This scope is awesome for its price tag. It comes with the illuminated recticle (Red). I used this with my RWS 48, Crosman Marauder, Winchester 1000 air rifles. It gives a nice look to the rifle. Very Sturdy,, well made,, rifle scope.Comes with the mounts and scope covers. if you are in a budget, but still want a quality scope,, this is the one for you..

This came in a clamshell blister pack from a local sporting goods store on sale for under $30. I bought it because it had good features for cheap (less than the similar Bushnell, Nikon, and Tasco models)and came with 3/8 rings.

Barska designed it for a rimfire rifle, but I mounted it on a Gamo "Cadet" .177 yout-sized break-barrel air rifle that I use to shoot small targets (pests) at 10 to 25 yards. The objective lens is 32mm, so it does gather a good amount of light and gives a decent field of view. It is also fully coated, which means every piece of glass gets an anti-reflective protective coating, a feature found on higher-end scopes. The scope is also fog and waterproof. Eye relief was good at about 3 or so inches, and when combined with the 4x magnification, good enough for quick target acquisition.

You get a 30/30 (smaller crosshairs inside larger crosshairs) illuminated reticle with brightness adjustment settings, which can be a useful feature when shooting dark targets on a dark backdrop when a black reticle can get lost, making it a little difficult to get a good sight picture. Also, the reticle is a little thick I noticed, which made shooting small targets (small bulls-eyes a little difficult).

Performance was about what I expected to get for this scope. I didn't notice any parallax, but there was some very faint ghosting with minimal spherical aberrations, which I sort of expected. At the ranges I used it for it worked just fine. Zeroing took about 10 shots at 15 yards with Beeman .177 8.5 gr. pointed premium pellets, and I was able to get 3/4 inch 5-shot groups. Using Beeman's 8.3 gr. Silver Jet (the older versions in a tin- best hunting pellets I ever used). I got 1 inches at 15 yards. I could do a lot better with my ancient (1970's-era Tasco 4x20 scope though (1/2 inches at 15 yards), which I owe to the thinner reticle, but overall I was satisfied. One thing I DIDN'T like was the rear-mounted reticle brightness rheostat. I had to take my eye off the target to adjust it, something I don't have to do with a top or side-mounted one on the middle of the tube.

The scope held the zero pretty well, but I did have to adjust it if I switched pellets. It never fogged up and I can't see any water inside after being in the rain. The windage/elevation turrets worked good with defined clicks for each adjustment. The reticle brightness control also worked fine, and the reticle was bright enough that I could see it in bright sunlight. It is made of aluminum and relatively lightweight, with the rings about 6 or so ounces so it didn't add a lot of weight to the rifle (which was already light).

Pros:

Reticle is too thick
Some optical anomalies
Rear-mounted reticle brightness adjustment

So, you get what you pay for. A utilitarian (typical Russian-built), no-nonsense scope that does what you ask it to do and not much else. Overall, I am satisfied. It is a lot better than a typical bargian airgun/rimfire scope.

Scope will not hold a zero. I attempted to sight it on two different 22 rifles and it will not zero. As soon as it gets close all of a sudden the placement of the shots goes all over the target. I can hold good groups with both guns using open sights so it's not the guns or the ammo. I am returning this scope for a refund.
