Sure this light is bright, but it is not suitable for law enforcement. I got this light about 2 months ago and was very careful with it. On a traffic stop last night, I dropped the light for the first time. It fell on the pavement as I was getting out of the car. The fall was from less than 2 feet. When I picked up the light it was dead.

I contacted Barska for help and about the warranty...since the light is advertised as being

"Designed for military and law enforcement this flashlight is designed to be shockproof and able to with stand use as a tactical defense too"

I figured the warranty would cover damage that was intentional. I was told by Barska that the "warranty" doesn't cover damage caused by the consumer and then I was told my option was to buy a new light.

This light is garbage, it's as "shock proof" as a beer bottle. I wouldn't recommend this light to anyone.

I bought my husband a Barska FLX 1200 flashlight for Christmas. He has used it very little and it has stopped working several times. It now doesnt work at all. The batteries are fully charged. The literature that comes with this flashlight says that it can overheat with extended use. My husband would use it less than 15 minutes and it would simply quit working. Once it stranded him in the dark when he was in the woods hunting. To get warranty on this product, the company wants you to send them $25.00 for S&H and conducting an inspection. Not a very good warranty for a product that costs more than a hundred bucks. I will probably chuck this light in the recycling bin in lieu of shelling out $25.00 bucks on top of the $100 plus I already have invested.

Just to get things straight this is a bright light that would be great for camping or other outdoor activities. But they call this light tactical which I do not think it is. For anyone in Law Enforcement I would recommend the Pelican 7060 Rechargeable LED light it has a lot of nice features and in my option is a more tactical.

Here is why I think the Pelican is better for Law Enforcement.

The Barska Light is nice but it only has one button, compared to 2 on the pelican, on the rear of the flashlight light that only clicks on and off, you cannot just hold and release which I personal like for clearing houses. It also does not give you a warning when the battery is low the light just turns off, which is very dangerous. The Barska does have a strobe feature that the pelican does not but the light also has an SOS flash pattern. There is no special way to turn them on or off you just double click and it cycles through the patterns. Can be annoying when you are being tactical and trying to just turn the light on for a quick second and then back off, because it will cycle through the patterns. All it all it is a five star flashlight; it is just not a tactical light, for work I wish I would have got the Pelican again.

I've seen these Barska models in action and they aren't very durable, they use LED's that have been superseded, the customer service for warranty is dodgy and the light itself does not have a good throw, the 1200 Lumen model is also a gross estimate, it really only is around 400-500 Lumens with the best Ultrafire / Trustfire 18650 Battery's being used.

If you seriously want a powerful light than a HID Xenon 70W is well worth paying the extra $60 or so instead of these overpriced Barska models.

Do your own research and you'll be able to pick up a very nice light that may not even need the 18650's.

Terrible warranty and quality. Do not buy. Buy a fenix tk series or a 4sevens light. They are both reputable companies that stand behind their products.

This light worked for three times for less than a minute each before it started shutting down after a few seconds of on time. Not a very good feeling when you are searching in the dark. Sometimes the electronics would heat up extremely when it shut down. Now, turn it on, and if you get five seconds of light you are doing good. Batteries charged? Not only charged, but changed, same problem. Do NOT buy this light.

Update Sept. 2013. It was the batteries supplied with the light that caused the problems. Purchased better batteries and charge and this light works great.

GARBAGE!! It looked cool and powerful while it worked. Then suddenly it did not work. I keep this light in my night stand and it has never been dropped, struck, submerged, or anything you'd do with a good light like Sure Fire. What a total waste of Money!! Oh yea, crappy warranty too. Stay far, far away and spend your money on something more useful like a box of paperclips.

This light overheats easily and then the thermal protection shuts down leaving you in the dark. It would be a very good light if it wasn't for that flaw.
