5.0 out of 5 stars BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness, November 2, 2005

Wow! It almost doesn't seem real that something so simple can be so life-changing. But it is. I couldn't put this book down and I'm about to pick it up again for another read-through.

Laurette Willis incorporates her own life experiences with Biblical truth to give an inspiring and powerful testimony and plan for Godly fitness. For those of us who have struggled with weight or self-esteem issues throughout our lives, this book is an answer to prayer. Not only does it address the spiritual issues, but also the physical - something I've never found in a single book before.

PraiseMoves, the Christian alternative to yoga, is an extreme answer to prayer. I seriously asked God to show me what yoga was really about and anything I could do that was similar. I googled the subject and ended up at PraiseMoves' website in only a few clicks. This book contains a wonderful introduction to the poses and thoughts behind the movements.

I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for God's way to health - both spiritual and physical.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new way to look at fitness, May 24, 2005

This review is from: BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness: Strengthening Your Body and Soul in Christ (Paperback)
Most of us have made the decision to go on a diet and incorporate an exercise program. Many of us have lost interest or found it more difficult than we thought it would be. The result was failure. We didn't reach our weight loss and health goal.

Laurette Willis, personal trainer, public speaker and author of Basic Steps to Godly Fitness, provides solid information about why our diets can and often do more harm than good. Willis offers her vast experience with health and fitness to provide us with a biblical approach to fitness: a Christian alternative to yoga. She believes her program will encourage our spirit, refresh our souls and nourish our bodies.

Willis provides practical suggestions to turn dull exercises that we really don't want to do into acts of worship. She gives simple and useful steps to better incorporate nutrition and fitness into our daily lives. These steps will bring lasting results. Willis discusses ways to overcome destructive thought patterns, make healthy choices and discover how forgiveness will free us. And she shows us ways to grow in our relationship with God.

I found Basic Steps to Godly Fitness to be interesting, logical and easily understood. I personally found the information on stress to be a reminder that is worth reading and then re-reading. The photographs accompanying the exercise descriptions were sound and easily followed. And there are suggested menus and a few recipes that contain ingredients that most people have in their kitchens.

This is a prayerful diet and exercise program worth taking a look at.

I love this book and highly recommend it to everyone looking for a biblical approach to fitness and eating healthy. Laurette has a lot of helpful tips that are easy to incorporate in your daily life. I will be purchasing copies to gift my family and friends with.

And she also has a great program called PraiseMoves which is the "Christian Alternative to Yoga"!! Something I have been searching for which teaches stretching poses with Scripture verses.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basics Steps to Godly Fitness - Exactly what the Dr. Ordered, November 9, 2005

This review is from: BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness: Strengthening Your Body and Soul in Christ (Paperback)
Laurette Willis brings it together for your body, soul, and spirit in her book "BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness". I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a well-balanced way of staying fit for the rest of your life. You can spend a lot of time researching many books for bodily exercise and others for feeding your soul and spirit. However, Laurette has all this and much more packaged together in this ONE book. Godly Wisdom and humor makes it hard to put the book down. I will refer to the book for years to come for advise in diet, recipes, and exercise programs.

Reading this book brings to reality just what you hear from many physical trainers, and many Doctors...but Laurette has a way of writing so you can really make this an easy part of everyday living...

5.0 out of 5 stars Respect for the Body through Excercise from a Christian Perspective, December 30, 2006
This review is from: BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness: Strengthening Your Body and Soul in Christ (Paperback)
One of the teachings of the bible is the purity of the body. In modern times, this is achieved by practising healthy diet and excercise. Laurette Willis spent 25 years immersed in yoga, metaphysics, New Age, Psychic, Tarot, and Crystals in her life until 1987 when she surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Let Go and Let God ... Willis was inspired in prayer to develop Praise Moves ... a Christian inspired stretching program with biblical teachings to help Christians walk in mind, body, and spirit with God. This is an ideal program for committed Christians who want a physical regime born within the context of their faith.

I haven't had a chance to read through the entire book because I loaned it to a friend who is fighting cancer. She loved the book! She said it covered several issues about healthy living that she had been researching. Can't wait to study it more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly an effectice program, May 29, 2009
This review is from: BASIC Steps to Godly Fitness: Strengthening Your Body and Soul in Christ (Paperback)
I can say in all honesty I have battled my weight and low level of fitness my entire life. I have been in every organized program, tried every diet and supplement, prescription or otherwise, and I have never been successful. Until now, when this book showed me the missing factor in all of it: God. In her book, the author leads you to see how fruitless it is to seek such life changes without the Lord. I find His strength pulling me in all the right directions now, and I feel this author has been truly inspired to help everyone.

As a christian man, I think, making money out of your religion in a way other religions do, is the wrong way.
Christian people should help other people to understand the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us and not how to get fitter through your religion. This review is ment for all books like this one and people, who read or write this books should think about their believe, do you really think you are on the right way?
