Good fishing game for the PS2 BUT...,

... EA Sports Championship Bass is a much better game. I understand that fish don't just jump out of the water and land in your boat, but you should be able to catch SOME fish under optimal conditions. The Tournament mode is kinda lacking, the computer wins more often than it loses and it gets frustrating. It doesn't really inspire you to unlock more anglers. Again I don't expect the fish to just surrender, but it's just annoying to have the line constantly break when using the lower tension seems to get you nowhere. I've played (and reviewed) several fishing games and this one could be better.

Bass Strike is a great game. The graphics are fine, the fishing is great, and it is very realistic. Some people might say, "It takes too long to get the fish in the boat!" Come on!!! It might take a little while but your efforts are worth the wait, and if they knew how to bring in the bass properly it wouldn't take very long! Besides, the best part is the struggle. Others say it's too hard to catch a fish. That's life!!! If you ever went fishing or read up on bass, they are very picky fish. The temperature, time of day, and spawning will affect their choosing. Besides, it isn't that hard to catch a bass, just use some determination. This is probably my family's favorite game (we all like to fish). My dad is addicted to it, and to some extent I am also.

Whoever made this game has obviously never caught a Bass!!!,

Don't buy this game unless you enjoy swearing at the tv and throwing your controller around the room! I am a frequent Bass fisherman, and have caught 14 Largemouth Bass in the last month. This game is great... untill you have to reel your fish in, then your 2 to 8 pound Bass turns into a 100 pound Marlin. This is horribly incorrect, I've never fought a Bass for more than 30 seconds, and most are reeled in in just a matter of a few. (watch the trailer, or any fishing show on television). If you've gone through the trouble of locating the fish, and selecting the correct lure for the conditions, then you certianly should be able to reel the fish in in a realistic manner, instead of fighting it till your clock runs down, and hearing that annoying "you lose" over, and over, and over again. This complety ruins the fact that the game's graphics aren't to bad, as well as completly kills any motivation to continue unlocking any of the other fisherman, or locations. I own a total of 9 fishing games, each with it's own set of pros & cons, and this is by far and away the worst ever! I hope the realistic genuises at EA sports are working on a new fishing game for playstation 2, but untill then, I highly recomend... Fisherman's Bait 2 "Big Ol'Bass"... with an analog fishing controller, that came out for playstation. This game has real and fake fish from around the globe, some weighing well over a thousand pounds. A livewell for every species, including every Bass fishermans dream fishing trip, South American Peacock Bass.

this game is pretty damn detailed in many ways to me it seems very simular to championship bass for the ps1 in the way that you can drive a boat the electric motor the kinds of conditions you can choose tournament conditions there catfish just like championship bass! even the selection of lures is close anyway this game is great though one thing it dosent have in common is its much harder to entice the bass to bite (and thats that its pretty hard to entice bass on championship bass) theres a practice mode and arcade even a time trial mode to test your skills theres smallmouth bass largemouth bass and catfish (I love to hunt for catfish I do it all the time in championship bass) especially because of catfishes lunker size anyway heres the pros and cons
Pros 1 pleanty of lures to choose from 36 in total they move realisticly underwater 2 great difficulty level even on amature mode 3 6 different charachters to choose from 5 each charicter has their own tackle box and their specialty at different specific lures 6 in free mode you can choose condition just like in championship bass and the start time! 7 dynamic action packed camera angles 8 realistic looking and detailed lakes! 9 I've never seen a game with actual billboards I saw a billboard advertising chevy trucks and long John silvers on lake hunter!! 10 the crew who made the game actually worked with BASS 11 Catfish!!!!!!!!!!! anyway this game is so worthwhile I love it makes a great addition to my growing fishing ps1 ps2 collection!

If I wanted a completely realistic fishing experience, I'd go out fishing. I had owned Sega Bass Fishing for the Dreamcast and that game was loads of fun. You'd throw your lure in, wiggle it around and you'd get a strike. This game gets boring very quickly. It takes forever to reel a fish in. I really don't have much else to say other than that this game is not much fun, so don't waste your time on it.

The game is really not worth buying Time goes to quick in tournament mode. The size of the fish is really blown up. Also the fish are to easy to catch. Game could be okay for a beginer who just wants to fish and have fun. If you want a good game pick up Bass Landing for the PS1 it comes with it's own fishing reel controller. Bass Landing is an amazing game that is very real and fun to play.
