This little fan blows a lot of air for its size.

Honestly, I spent way too much time trying to find a fan for our family tent camping adventures. After reading dozens of reviews, I went for the O2 model.

In short, THIS. FAN. ROCKS.

Uber-quiet, it is perfect for our family. I wanted a decent-size to fan an 8-person tent (2 adults / 2 kids and 1 dog) and this fan does the job. But what separates it from the other fans is just how quiet it is.. If you're finding yourself in the same predicament as I was, look no further. This O2 fan will work perfectly...

I was one of the lucky people without electricity for over two weeks after Hurricane Ike hit Houston. This fan was the only thing that made things bearable. I went through a lot of batteries but it was worth every penny. I now have two of these; one I keep in my car during the summer, just in case I have car trouble and have to wait in the heat for help to arrive.

Three days ago, we had a huge storm. The power was out for hours after the storm blew threw. I took my fan down to the pool area where people were trying to get cool. Needless to say, I was very popular.

This is an excellent fan to take camping. I used it this past weekend at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN and it cooled down our tent to a comfortable sleeping temperature in 80 degree heat. It lasted all weekend on batteries.

During the Summer and Fall months we participate in craft shows. Sometimes, with no access to electricity, the heat is unbearable. We purchases 2 of the battery operated O2 fans and we surprised at how much air they moved. We were able to keep cool and so did our customers!

I like how this fan has 2 speed settings, both of which push a good amount of air. I mainly bought this because it can also run on batteries and it is perfect for when I go camping, but I have also been using it everyday around the house -- it is easily transported to any room quickly. It also came in handy when the power went out (it helped cool down me and my dogs).

I don't think you will find a higher quality fan that can also run on batteries for anywhere near this price. A MUST buy!

UPDATE - 8/28/11

I have just returned from a 6 night camping trip and I used this fan every night on one set of 8 batteries (energizer). I'd say it was used for about 45 total hours with no problems. Each morning I would reverse one of the batteries so there would be no "draining" of the battery life. I am still impressed with the power/speed of this fan and continue to use it everyday around the house (plugged in).

I would note that the price of this fan has increased by $10 since I purchased it.

I bought this fan because my electricity had gone out 3 times this summer, and I have 3 dogs. They don't understand why it is hotter in the house than outside! This fan brought comfort to them when it happened again. I also use it almost daily (plugged in, of course) just for air movement. Although there are 2 speeds, I rarely use high, because low is more than adequate. It is lightweight, quiet, and is not obtrusive. I highly recommend this fan, and I am thinking of buying another one.

This is a good fan if you ONLY use it with an electrical outlet. Do not use it with batteries.
My husband and I inserted the batteries as directed and the batteries started to heat up, finally to the extent that they were too hot to touch. The battery compartment is very tight and it was almost impossible to extract them. We finally had to break the plastic casing of the fan with a hammer to get the batteries out. The batteries were brand new, so that was not the problem. My husband is a former fire fighter and had only seen this occur once in the past. Maybe we just got a bad product. Needless to say, the fan is useless now. We had planned to use it in our storm shelter and so I am out looking for another one.

The unit I got made a constant whining/buzzing noise. Other than that it would have been ideal for me. I can keep it in my office or take it camping. A few other notes:

Batteries - 8 D Cells!!
Tipping - it tips, but if you put in the D Cells it is rock solid.
Battery compartment - good luck getting batteries in and out. Very challenging.

Again, I would have kept it if it were quiet.
