About the Author

Susan A. Greenfield is Director of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Professor of Pharmacology at Oxford University and Senior Research Fellow at Lincoln College, Oxford. A leading researcher in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, she has broadcast and lectured widely in Great Britain and the United States. She gave the Royal Institution's Christmas Lectures in 1994, the first woman to deliver these lectures since they began in 1826. She is author of Journey to the Centers of the Mind, The Human Brain: A Guided Tour and The Private Life of the Brain, and the editor of Mindwaves and Brain Power.

After viewing an excellent pbs science program on strange
conditions caused by physical problems with the brain.
I wanted to continue the journey and shopped around for
a book that would explore the brain in more depth. This book
presents a macro view of the brain and a thought provoking
experiment that explored the interaction between the conscious and subconscious. The book is easy to read, has supporting graphics and is a execellent way to learn the generalities of the brain processing. However, don't expect all questions to be answered. The science of the brain has a long way to go. I would have liked more theories and expert speculation to suppliment science's unknowns. I read it cover to cover.
