In the U.K., however, they earned a fair amount of critical acclaim, and made a greater impression on the public consciousness with their frequent changes in sound, wardrobe, and… Read more in Amazon's Dexy's Midnight Runners Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Dexy's kings of working class soul., November 2, 2002
This review is from: BBC Radio One Live in Concert (Audio CD)
Having been in a fortunate position to have actually had a peel sesson myself, I still doff my hat to dexy's. The first time I heard "There there my dear" all the hairs on my neck stood to attention. I bought the record three times.
Classic stuff Kevin. Just brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic BBC John Peel Session, January 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: BBC Radio One Live in Concert (Audio CD)
I have listened to DJ's John Peel show for years. He perhaps more than any other was responsible for bringing bands like The Buzzcocks, XTC, Dammed, The Fall and many, many others to the UK's attention. If he liked liked a band's demo tape, or live pub show, they got a live studio session on John's radio show. I remember hearing this session for the first time, as clearly as I remember, say, hearing Hendrix. I rushed to start recording the session and was blown away by an intense driving sound and a horn section that was to my amazement British. The much maligned Keven Rowland was a talent (where r u now Kev?) Essential place in Brit rock n' pop history.
