A Studio Staple,

This review is from: BBE D82 Sonic Maximizer Plug-In
I've been using the BBE sonic maximizer for more than a decade. The first version of the plugin (it started as hardware) is still running on my 64-bit system, and I use it every day.
The BBE approach is the simplest and most reliable way to bring recordings forward, give them presence and clarity, and enhance intelligibility in speech and vocals. It's not a treble booster -- instead it looks at the harmonic content in the upper frequencies, and boosts frequencies that are already there above a certain threshhold, smoothly and without sounding artificial. The result is a boost in clarity without sounding tinny. Only the harmonics already present are boosted, not all frequencies within the upper band, so the effect is powerful even when used very subtly. If you ever wished the mic had been closer to the speaker or vocalist, BBE will pull the track right up to the front of the mix. Highly recommended. It's a VST plugin, so it works with nearly every kind of DAW or audio software (Sound Forge, Sonar, etc.).

I bought this product for $99 and found out I could not use it for my application and to top that off couldn't get my money back. Not very easy to download either.
