I ordered this because I recently purchased a new receiver for my surround sound system and it did not have an input for my old Harmon Kardon turntable, I was told I needed a pre-amp so I purchased this and now I can listen to my old vinyls again.

Great preamp,

Needed a simple preamp to play vinyls on an old technics turntable through my receiver with no phono input. This fits the bill perfectly and sounds great. It has solid construction and is small enough to fit behind my receiver.

Great Phono preamp for cartriges with lower output,

This preamp was great until I started using my Ortofon Arkiv cartridge. The higher output of the cartridge made the preamp clip the audio signal. Because of this I was losing sound when digitizing vinyl. Since there is no volume control I could not over come the problem and had to go with another with volume control. Please keep that in mind when buying this product.

Sounds better than TCC 750,

I like this phono stage much better than the TCC 750. It seems livelier and well eq'd/balanced. It has a little more noise than the TCC 750 that you can only hear if you crank it up high with nothing playing.

I've used this preamp for over a year now; has excellent sound and is perfect for DJ's who need solid, tough equipment for their turntable setup. Dropped it several times, this baby is solid with its metal casing and durable design. Has gold plated connections, and will honestly sound as good as any solid state preamp within the $200 dollar range. It's no audiophile tube preamp, but it is simple and reliable with an excellent frequency response etc.

I needed this to hook my turntable via an iMic to my Mac to record my old vinyl albums.
This works great; I couldn't be happier with the unit. It shipped very fast (2 days and I was up and running) and solved the recording problem I was having. I have seen preamps for less money, but I bought this one on the strength of another review. I'm glad I did, but I honestly cannot tell you if the extra money was worth it. This one works for me and I've gotten lots of use out if it. |
