Good Pedal,

This review is from: BBE Green Screamer Vintage 808 Overdrive Guitar and Bass Pedal (Electronics)
I bought this pedal as an overdrive for my 59 Fender Bassman. It sounds great for blues, country, rock, and punk. I did have some intermintent crakle sound problems with the pedal when I first got it that required some tinkering with the internal circutry. I do like that the pedal does come with a ac adapter because batteries get expensive quick. Just as previews reviewers have stated, the gain is slightly high end shifted meaning that the pedal produces most of it's break up high in the frequency spectrum. I tend to like my sound with a little more low end then this pedal produces but if I am playing the aforementioned genres then this pedal cuts through perfectly in both live and studio mixes. I don't recomend this pedal for metal and I only recomend playing this pedal through a tube amp as it was intended.

I bought the Green Screamer just after Christmas and have used it for three gigs since then. It has a better bass than the Ibanez Tube Screamer that I have been using for at least 10 years. The design, parts used and especially the true bypass make this a winner. The pedal has a real switch that you can feel when it engages, the tone is almost instant Santana and makes it easier to play, especially with a Fender tube amp. I play Blues and Pop music with a Jazz touch and have been playing for 43 years. Favorite guitar to use with the Green Screamer is a Telecaster and the amp is a Fender Blues Deluxe.

This is an Ibanez Tube Screamer clone. It gives a nice tube like break up. Also a bit of a volume boost if you want it, though you can twidle with the knobs to get to unity gain. It's one of those effects you can leave on all the time. It has slightly less low mid range than the Ibanez, and slightly more upper mid break up. Definitely an overdrive, not a distortion. I like it. All in all, a darn good pedal. Plus it comes with a 5 year warranty, a battery and a wall wart! Whoooo-hoooo! I got it at one of the amazon affiliates for a great price, amazon and musicians friend were a lot more.

One of the best warm sounding overdrive pedals with the perfect amount of transparency , even at full gain. One of the better overdrives out there and not to mention the affordability of this unit. The BBE Green Screamer is a must for my pedal board. I highly recommend this pedal. If you're playing through a tube amp, this is what you want!!!!! It's very quiet when it comes to his or hum. I was thinking of picking up another one and running it along side the one I already have and use it as the master. A+ of an overdrive !!!

Best sounding OD-808/Tube Screamer clone out there. This pedal does not suck tone or muddy up like the Digitech Bad Monkey. Considering that the Maxon/Ibanez reissues are going for $200, you can't beat the price!

I've been looking for the right, "real" tube screamer for weeks now. I came across this at a local guitar store, and found my little slice of heaven, but was double the amazon price. This thing can really add some balls to a really dry amp. I ended up choosing this over the more expensive TS9 (And way way expensive re-issues) after playing. Not to mention, it is nearly half the price of a newer TS9!
It adds a great bit of chunk to my little 40 watt Roland cube, and can clean up really well with a roll of the volume knob. Not noisy at all, Even through other pedals and into an overdriven Peavey Encore65. It doesn't suck volume/tone from your guitar when you are bypassing either. Really just a great little green machine.

The BBE "Green Screamer" is a vintage 808 style overdrive pedal with a great overdrive sound, which cannot be beat for the amazing Amazon price. The Green Screamer delivers a creamy, tube-like, overdriven tone that doesn't alter the essential tone of your guitar and amp. This pedal has three main controls: Gain, Tone, and Level, 1% resistors throughout, a bright blue LED indicator light, and a true hardware bypass switch that ensures that it does not effect your tone when its disengaged. But mine is always on, with Gain, Tone, and Level knobs set to 12 o'clock, which sounds great, coupled with a BBE "Benchpress" vintage compressor. The BBE Orange Squash Fet Compressor Pedal, (which is pictured correctly by Amazon, but listed under its old name, "Orange Squash"), adds terrific "presence" to the Green Screamer's overdriven tone from my Fender American Deluxe Ash Strat into a Blues Deluxe Reissue Amp. I have now retired my Boss Super-Overdrive pedal. The Green Screamer is built like a tank with really cool metal knobs atop very solid feeling pots, and you've gotta dig the jet plane graphics. The Green Screamer comes with an "Easter Egg," 9 volt DC adaptor, which is very cool. Buy this stomp box. As long as you're not expecting a distortion pedal, I guarantee you'll be happy with the Green Screamer!!

First of all, I received the pedal one day after it was scheduled to ship! A+
This is BBE's version of the classic Ibanez TS-808 Tube Screamer (which is made by Maxon). I did not want to fork out the cash to pay for the genuine 808 from Ibanez so I was thinking of going the much cheaper route of building my own clone. I'm really glad I waited and kept searching Amazon for great deals because most other music gear sites are selling this pedal for around $100. So when I saw Amazon had this for much less; I jumped on it. It's actually cheaper than the build it yourself clone kits out there! It sounds great! It's not sonically identical to the 808; but it's pretty darn close. I'll be able to tell more tomorrow when I get a chance to really turn the amp to 11 :) It's built like a tank. comes with it's own power supply. The knobs feel super sturdy. and the LED is BRIGHT!!! The in/out jacks are on the side. That's pretty standard although I personally like having them on the back of the unit. It saves horizontal space on the pedal board that way. If you just HAVE to sound exactly like SRV (one of this pedal's claims to fame), then you might wanna save for the actual ibanez or maxon. For everyone else: get this pedal!

I like to use this as a Fat Boost. Built very well. This pedal is advertised by Ozzy's guitarist as a Heavy Metal type of pedal, which it is not. Review below comments on the Bad Monkey, which does OK, but sucks out living tone. The only real problem with this pedal is the on/off light, which makes it very difficult to look at any adjustments because it is so bright. It is virtually like staring at an oncomiming train. Overall, outperforms most other pedals in same class. You may have to go boutique to get better. Good other underrated option is the Rockman Austin Gold, which isn't built as solid but has great TS tone.
