I bought the XL version of this bag back for my 17" Mac notebook five (maybe more?) years ago, and I've been very happy both with the bag itself and with the service from BBP.

I often carry quite a bit in the bag, both in terms of computer equipment and books/papers/whatnot. The backpack mode allows me to do this comfortably, as opposed to single-strap bags, which inevitably lead to upper-back pain.

It's great for cycling.

It's got tons of pockets, so I can actually organize and quickly find all the cables, adapters, pencils, pens, papers, etc. that I carry.

When one of the clips failed after many years of heavy service, BBP helpfully replaced the clips with metal ones...meaning the bag is probably going to last another five years, at least.

Really, the only complaint that I can raise is a trivial one: carrying a pack on your lower back looks dorky...but if that bothers you, put it back in messenger-bag mode!

I bought this bag because I got a 17" laptop and needed the extra space. There are some good and bad things about it, but I wish I would have bought something different.

First, the strap system - the "I'm a backpack/no I'm a messenger bag" is essentially useless. It does neither function well. I clipped on a strap from an older bag and cut off the little buckle things in the center of the bag.

The drink holders are good; the external pockets are decent. The one with the magnetic snap is hard to close and seldom stays closed. The mesh pocket is perfect for headphones.

My 17" MacBook Pro just barely clears the zipper on the back of the bag. I had to remove the inner laptop padding to get it to fit, so I don't trust it at all. I usually carry the laptop inside, which makes it completely inaccessible during travel unless I open the entire bag up.

It looks okay, and the material looks like it would hold up well. I don't foresee the main latches lasting more than a year, though.

I'll probably switch back to an Ogio bag when I put enough wear on this to justify a replacement.

i overloaded my bag with several big text books and my laptop and jumped off of a 3-4 ft ledge and it broke the snap that holds it together as a backpack :(

the compartments on the front are great
its like they were designed just for what i would use
one perfectly fits my portble harddrive, one for my camera and one for my wireless mouse. the three compartments are PERFECT for this

bag is very well padded and protects my laptop very well

The title says a lot but the best part of this bag is they way it hangs on your body. I was constantly schlepping this thing on and off though all the airport lounges and security checkpoints. The comfort of this bag on your bum is unbelievable and you cannot appreciate until you experience it. It's one of the few bags that has padding in the laptop slot. My 15" MBP fit nicely in the medium size. Get one when you can. I almost delayed getting it and noticed later it went out of stock for so long that I would not have had it in time for my trip.

I had eyed this bag for about a year before finally buying it! I love it. Once I figured out the strap, I really started to dig it. I rarely take it into messenger bag mode; I leave it in back pack mode. It's laptop compartment is padded and It has plenty of pockets and space for everything.

The things that I could nitpik:
*The pocket with the magnetic button - I wish that button would line up better ... but I'm anticipating the material wearing in a little and maybe the stiffness of the new nylon material will allow for better contact.
*In messenger style, it's really low. ...To-your-knees low. You end up kind of kicking it with a normal walk (I'm 5'10" to give an idea). I haven't tried cross-chesting it though. I image that would work slightly better
*Lots of room, but not many document dividers. For me, that's cool, I don't care, I don't really pay too much attention to the documents in dividers even in the bags that I've had that *do* have them.
*I thought about putting my portable hard drives in the outside pockets but since those are attached to the big flap that you have to pull back to get to your doc's, I decided against that idea and stash them in one of the inside pockets instead. Less rumble and tumble on 'em.

I really dig:
the strap/lock styles! The comfort - both the padding and how it rides low in back pack mode, the convenience of the pockets, both on the outside and the sides, the fact that your laptop zipper is covered so rain won't get into it and it's style.

I'm glad I finally stepped on it and got the bag after so long!
