Customer Reviews

The Q&A for this product says the 10 cfm fan is included.

As others have mentioned, ad hoc setup via wifi will not work on an android so you need a windows device or mac/iphone to get it setup.
Reed Smith
When probe failed, I was told to buy another probe versus them replacing it.

I bought this about a month ago. It's an awesome product and does exactly what it's supposed to. However, there were connectivity problems in "ad hoc" mode with the newer iOS and OS operating systems versions that were released a couple of months ago. As a result I wasn't able to get the device to work with my iPhone, iPad, or mac. However, "ad hoc" mode worked just fine on my old pc.

Fortunately, once I was able to get the device working with my pc, I was then able to configure the device in "infrastructure" mode so I could access it on any webbrowser anywhere the internet is available.

The result is that it works as it should. The larger fan heats up my big green egg (large version) way faster than without it. I can get high or very low temperatures which the device holds accurately. I'm very impressed.

My only criticism would be with technical support. The manual isn't great and I couldn't get through to speak to anyone by telephone. When I was setting up infrastructure mode to allow for web access, the manual wasn't of much assistance when it came to configuring my router. I searched the internet for assistance and was able to find a post on a forum which dealt with the issue - much better than the manual.

I am reasonably adept when it comes to this kind of stuff. I think that somebody who is not particularly inclined towards the technical side of things would have real issues. Technical support should be better. This is my only reason for not giving the Cyber Q Wifi 5 stars out of five

BBQguru offers for $295. The large BGE fan kit is an extra $97. The Q&A for this product says the 10 cfm fan is included. I took a chance because it was priced like it the fan was at $383, disappointed! Closer look and the details say only the control is included despite the Q&A. So very over priced and will return!

This piece does not include the needed pit viper 10 cfm fan (or at least mine did not). There is no mention in the details that indicates the fan is not included nor is there an option to add the fan. The price is competitive with the kit off the manufactures site that does include the fan. I ordered from AMAZON to take advantage of the prime shipping.
Also there was no manual or instructions in the box either, I had to find and download the manual.
Have always had good service from Amazon, but this transaction was a fiasco.
I have not used the piece yet as I am waiting on delivery of a fan and adapter from the manufactures site, for an additional $97. No where on Amazon will you find the fan and adapter sold separately.
I have set the piece up with my iPhone and used it to monitor pit and food temp. That part seems to work very well.

For anyone who uses thier BGE for many types of food and cooks, this device is a MUST HAVE. Never waste another minute by checking cook or food temps. Set it and forget it whether your doing a low and slow cook or a roast. Never get up in the middle of the night during a "low and slow" cook to check your BGE. Via a PC or smartphone, you can set temps (Egg temps and up to three meats)check temps, set alarms, etc. A bit pricey but you will NEVER regret spending the money.

A fan was not included - this is a key component of this device. There was no option to purchase a fan. Further, the price per Amazon would suggest a fan IS included since it can be bought without a fan directly from BBQ Guru for $295. Additionally, there was no instruction manual. Will be returning this and buying directly from BBQ Guru.

Just completed my initial smoke with the CyberQ on my Pitmaker Safe.

Did a 12 pound brisket at 250 in a little over 6 1/2 hours to temp of 199.

Some minor tweaks I made:
- I used aluminum muffler tape to completely seal the sliding air vent on the Safe and cut a hole for the BBQ Guru fan input.
- Bought the CyberCook Mini app for my iPhone and used this to control the CyberQ - YES worth the $7! [...]
- Used the Humphreys BBQ maze in the Safe Firebox [...]YES worth the $35.

Loaded with Kingsford Competition and Post Oak Chunks.
Wrapped at 175 and sprayed with Aaron's special mist.
Took off at a little over 6 1/2 hours at 199. Ended the cook with about 1/3 of the fuel left unburned with the pit temp sitting nicely at 252! (a hard thing to manage on a DRY Pitmaker which likes to run hot)

The CyberQ held very close temps the entire time and quickly recovered after I pulled brisket for wrapping (at the 3hr 45min mark). Temp range from 248 - 262 and held temps very consistent throughout the cook.

Ordered the WIFI guru for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. Shipping was fast. Took a little longer than expected to set up the wireless connection but he never complained. Didn't seem to come with a lot of instructions so he just found them on the internet. Has already cooked 2 Boston butts and a turkey. Great gift for a Big Green Egg lover. Will definitely recommend to other grillers.

I bought this for my son and he has reported that he loves it. He is very involved in using his cooker and is now able to cook and monitor his items from anyplace.
