This is just what I have come to expect from Shonen Knife, the pop/punk trio that answers the question: What if the Ramones had been an all-Japanese girl band? I would compare this to a handful of other songs in their library. (e.g. Bicycling is Fun)
That said, I am a huge fan of the Knife. Sure, they are predictable and shallow. But, that is a niche which I need filled from time-to-time. In a refreshing twist, they are who they purport to be, a rarity in an industry now teeming with pseudo-artists and made-to-order hype. *cough*hiphop*cough*
I do not consider this J-pop, though they are certainly both 'J' and 'Pop'. In terms of genre, I suggest that they can be placed on a shelf containing works by Nirvana, Angry Samoans and The Rugburns, among others. But then, who ever said I was qualified to review music?

This is some great stuff. It has that early 80's simplicity and "rocks funny". If you liked Pylon or the B-52's, you should like this.

Shonen Knife is a crazy j-pop band with awesome and bizarre english lyrics! I hope amazon gets more j-pop!!!

How can someone seriously listen to this band? I downloaded this because my friends and I had an awful song contest, and I definitely destroyed all of them with this. Absolute trash, so much so that it's hilarious!
