In advance of the BookExpo America (BEA) 2012 event in June 2012, Publishers Lunch has released an e-book preview of 33 titles to be published next fall and winter. Many of these are expected to generate significant interest during the popular trade show, which will take place at the Javits Center in New York City. Publishers Lunch, which is billed as the industry's "daily essential read," is the largest book publishing periodical in the world, and paid subscribers to each of their reports receives stories from all over the web and print that are of interest to the professional trade book community, along with original reporting and analysis added in.

BEA Buzz Books is a free Kindle edition that offers us excerpts from 33 of the top fall 2012 titles, and it's quite a list. Here they are, presented in the order of the estimated publication date, listed by author, title and publisher:

Peter Heller: The Dog Stars (Knopf)
Matthew Dicks: Memoirs Of An Imaginary Friend (St. Martin's Press)
Hanna Pylvainen: We Sinners (Macmillan)
M.L. Stedman: The Light Between Oceans (Scribner)
Sarah Maas: Throne Of Glass (Bloomsbury Children's)
David Levithan: Every Day (Knopf Children's)
Junot Díaz: This Is How You Lose Her (Riverhead)
Shani Boianjiu: The People Of Forever Are Not Afraid (Hogarth)
Amanda Coplin: The Orchardist (Harpercollins)
Jasper Fforde: The Last Dragonslayer (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children's)
Jessica Khoury: Origin (Penguin Kids)
Kevin Powers: The Yellow Birds (Little, Brown)
Lawrence Norfolk: John Saturnall's Feast (Grove)
Lance Weller: Wilderness (Bloomsbury)
J.R. Moehringer: Sutton (Hyperion)
Dennis Lehane: Live By Night (William Morrow)
Eric Devine: Tap Out (Running Press Teen)
Jenny Han And Siobhan Vivian: Burn For Burn (Simon & Schuster Children)
Libba Bray: The Diviners (Little Brown Young Readers)
Ned Vizzini: The Other Normals (Harperteen)
James Meek: The Heart Broke In (Farrar, Straus And Giroux)
Mark Helprin: In Sunlight And In Shadow (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)
Scott Hutchins: A Working Theory Of Love (Penguin)
Rhoda Janzen: Does This Church Make Me Look Fat? (Grand Central)
Teresa Rhyne: The Dog Lived (Sourcebooks)
Bee Wilson: Consider The Fork (Basic Books)
Neil Young: Waging Heavy Peace (Blue Rider)
Iris Anthony: Ruins Of Lace (Sourcebooks)
Diana Athill: Make Believe (Granta Books)
Janet Gurtler: Who I Kissed (Sourcebooks Fire)
Barbara Kingsolver: Flight Behavior (Harpercollins)
Bill Roorbach: Life Among Giants (Algonquin)
John Kenney: Truth In Advertising (Touchstone)

There's an introduction written by Michael Cader, the founder of Publishers Lunch, and he explains the scope of this compilation of excerpts from the upcoming release titles and others that are not listed. This is followed by Sarah Weinman's Big Fall Books Preview, which breaks down the categories and offers us other forthcoming titles from authors such as John Grisham, Tom Wolfe, James Patterson, Lee Child and more, including J.K. Rowling's first novel for adults. She tantalizes us with forthcoming books in literary fiction, debut fiction works, commercial fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, and even young adult and children's books.

There's a listing of the authors who will be appearing at the BookExpo America (BEA) 2012 event taking place in New York City on June 4th through 7th, and it's impressive. But what is so good about this is that for the first time, readers will be able to sample a favorite author's next work or discover the richness of a debut novel before the book is published in print, and before any coveted galleys are handed out at BookExpo America.

This edition, BEA Buzz Books, is suggested for the trade only, and features extensive trade information at the end of each excerpt, with pertinent BEA-related notes. You'll find availability of print galleys, author appearances, publisher's booth number at BEA, and more. It's a buzz-generating mix of some of the best of what is to come, and includes an extensive overview of the fall publishing season, citing many more notable books we'll see in the coming months.

For consumers who are passionate readers, there is Buzz Books 2012, featuring the same excerpts. In that edition, the click-through leads individuals to stores to buy or pre-order the title of interest. Both of these are available here as Kindle editions. In my review of that edition I've included the direct link to some of the books featured on the list above, as far as Amazon's limitations allow.

At over 600 pages, this well-produced Kindle edition includes excerpts for all genres. Even better than a summer beach read, it offers us a chance to see what we may wish to read for the remainder of this year and beyond. Either one of these are highly recommended 5-star reads for all book lovers.

I absolutely love the idea of this book! What better way to make sure you know which books should be a priority at BEA? I really hope they continue this yearly, maybe even adding more books (and maybe different compilations with different genres?) for next year!
