5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful material
A review by someone "Naperville, IL United States " just doesnt make sense to me. As I went through the first review from Manisha Mistry from Canada and then visited the book store (BN) before I bought this book. Bible is not meant for Administrators and doesnt help me for enhancing my skills for administration at all.

Thats not my problem. I am a J2EE...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing useful except for beginner level!!!
A book on WebLogic 7 Server Admin should not be written like its for a complete novice. Instead of q book for real admins, the content is actually dumbed down from the BEA docs which are hardly useful in themselves. The style is do step 1, step 2, etc. It doesn't explain the technical issues involved in making various choices and how they affect the server and its...

I am a J2EE developer and our app server is WebLogic 7.0. I wanted to enhance my skills in administering WebLogic 7.0 server and dont have time to dig manuals from BEA. So, was excited to have this book handy and most important thing is it worked for me.

Now, I can leverage my skills to my existing client.

Thanks guys..

5.0 out of 5 stars The only dedicated book on Administration for WebLogic Serve, November 20, 2002
This review is from: BEA WebLogic 7 Server Administration (Paperback)
I was looking for a good book that can help me not only learn WebLogic Server administration rather help me in my day today assignment activities.

Referred to many other to books on WebLogic in market but didnt work for me untill this book came out. Also, there are a couple of books on administration which I found are not out still and wont be out for long.. I cannot rely on 6.0 and 6.01 books for my job on 7.0 WebLogic Server. This makes sense.

My special thanks for McGraw Hill and authors for such a nice text on WebLogic Server administration.

Ratna.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very little insight ......, May 15, 2003

In my opinion this book contains too many step-by-step
procedures (in tedious detail with diagrams), but contains
very little insight into the reasoning behind any step or
choice. Without the reasoning or insight, these procedures
become essentially useless. Sometimes terms are not even
defined clearly.
I tried to use it to set up Weblogic 7.0 server and it
was not helpful at all. (Previously I was running Weblogic
5.1).

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BEA WebLogic 7 Server Administration (Paperback)
A book on WebLogic 7 Server Admin should not be written like its for a complete novice. Instead of q book for real admins, the content is actually dumbed down from the BEA docs which are hardly useful in themselves. The style is do step 1, step 2, etc. It doesn't explain the technical issues involved in making various choices and how they affect the server and its applications. Explanations when they do appear are brief and pretty much the same dribble that's in the BEA docs. This is first and only book I ever returned to Amazon. I regret that some of those giving good reviews either don't know anything about server administration or have other motives.

This review is from: BEA WebLogic 7 Server Administration (Paperback)
This is most early books on WebLogic Server 7 Administration that one can find and is complete guide covering each aspect of WebLogic Server Administration.

The steps are very clearly guiding one, helps us carry out and learn administrative activities with WebLogic Server a lot ease.

The examples/steps are thorough helping myself learn install, configure, troubleshoot WebLogic Server on various Operating platforms.
