My mother made fun of me for buying this since I already have a food processor and I could steam things on the stovetop, but for ease of use this has paid for itself. I make a few batches of food every Sunday and it makes up everything my son eats for the week. Its cheaper than buying store-made food and I can control what he is eating. I can operate it one handed if my son is being fussy and wants to be held. It does not take up much counter space and it is easy to clean. Much better than using a pot to steam and then also the Cuisinart. Like most food processors it works best if you make sure not to overfill it. I usually steam a batch of veggies (squash, sweet potato, broccoli etc), take out the hot veggies in the steamer basket, add some rotisserie chicken from Costco, blend and then add back the veggies, usually with a little water to get it to the right texture. A whole weeks worth of food costs maybe $5 to make whereas Gerber would cost at least $5 a day.

I got this for my granddaughter who just turned 7 months. My daughter is making everything home made (same as I did with her) but I did realize that making baby food daily was hard especially when the baby was hungry and the food was still not ready... I researched on line the options and although some where advertised as "most popular" they where not the most practical. I first whet to a retailer and purchased the most popular brand of baby food cooker and to my shock it was the most complicated of them all... So many parts to clean and was not self contained at all. I returned the item after my daughter told me she would rather just make the food the old fashion way, that it was simpler. I returned the cooker for a full refund.

I saw the reviews for the Beaba Babycooker and it seemed wonderful simple but mostly "self contained". What I mean by self contained is that you can do everything, cook, blend, re-heat everything and in a very short time.... My daughter has had the product for over 1 week and loves it so much so that she got one for her best friend who is expecting her first baby and I got one for my neighbors daughter's baby shower...

This is the kind of item that is a "must have' for any new mom, and one that you home on to for the next child.... I recommend it highly and I wish they would have had something like this when I was a young mother as well... The healthiest way to feed your baby is organic home-made, and the Beaba Babycook is the way to go!!!!!

It could have been great! My first review a month ago when I got it would have been: "it's awesome!!!!! I love it!!!! Life saver!!!!"
But one month later, I am more "oh, what's going on now?" I hand wash everything after each usage (except twice in the dishwasher) and still after two weeks of use, the bowl had cracks showing up ( normal use, didn't fell or anything...). Speaking about the bowl, it would have been better if bigger: I had to cook a medium zucchini in two times as the bowl was to small.
Today, something new: a weird squeaky noise while blending cooked spinach (not the hardest vegetable...), like like the blade was going to break ( I verify it was well fixed before and after). I noticed that the blade is loose, which I don't recall from the previous uses.

So, I am not the kind to usually leave bad reviews, but I am really disappointed. I came to really like this appliance as it is really practical. I have twins and have no time to spare. My first though was: I should have bought the double babycook so I could do more at once, reheat meat and vegetables or fruits at the same time in different bowl instead of using the microwave and loosing all the profit of the babycook... But now that I see it falling apart after only one month despite using it in accordance with the instruction and with good care - and at this price, I am quite angry.

I got this for making baby food. After looking at all the different options I went with this and I do really like it. It is small so there is less to clean up also you are not making a huge batch. 1 large apple will make alot of apple sause for a baby. Things to know so you can get along with this device better. The instructions are limited.
Cut all food into small pieces
if food is not cooked enough the first time add more water into the reservoir and cook again
when you cook more liquid will add to the food
after done cooking dump water into a glass and add or don't add for desired puree consistancy
save the left over fruit or veggy water. The apple water tasted like watered down juice. Freeze in ice cube trays just like the baby food puree to store
never over fill reservoir well you can but is will spill out over fill hole. Just makes a mess.
When storing leave the top in the open position so all water can evaporate
get the oxo baby food freezeing tray with lid. Usually 1 batch of anyhing will fill half of it to all of it.
If you get the beaba plastic containers with lids you can reheat your food cubes in the baby cooker
get crative and experiment
If I come up with any others I will post them.
Overall this is a great product if used and stored properly. The only con is that I found the instructions lacking. The real pro is that is you buy quality produce you will be amazed at how good the food tastes without adding salt or sugar.
