5.0 out of 5 stars It's not over!
Firstly, I really love this series, and I was also disappointed that they changed to song in episode 24. I don't have any problems with the plot line, I think everything works nicely. And I would like to point out, the story isn't over! They only made 24 episodes for the anime, but the story continues in the manga. You'll have to read it to find out what happens with Maho...

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better
For starters, I love this show. The way the series ended was absolutely great. My problem isn't with the show itself but with the DVD. In episode 24 they changed the "I got a feelin" from the version that was originally aired. Even if you have the Japaneese audio on, the song is still switched. The original version was hundreds of times better. For the life of me I...

The original version was hundreds of times better. For the life of me I can't figure out why on earth they changed it. Unless, there were some copyright issues or something. Basically, buy the DVD for the end of the series but at the same time try to find an original version of episode 24 and you'll see what I mean.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad ending, but not a good one either!!!, April 7, 2008

So I am a big Beck fan. The music is spectacular and the story is fantastic. I really enjoyed the series, but this last disc, and the whole Lucille story arc seemed rushed and unneeded. I really don't understand why there were gangsters in this show what so ever. Also, the main character does get the girl, but barely. I'm still not sure if they are or not, I'm not looking for a down and dirty sex scene, but a better clarification would be nice!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great conclusion, great series, February 16, 2008

BECK is one of those anime series that I wish more people would take a chance on because in spite of its flaws, it is a great series.

And in this final DVD, we get a great conclusion to a great series.

It opens with BECK at the Greatful Sound rock festival. Things are not going well for them. Ryuusuke has made a deal that seems to spell the doom for BECK that leads to a falling out that threatens the performance.

The events that unfold at the Greatful Sound festival are a bit cheesy but it works for anyone who has ever gotten to witness a once-in-a-life performance from a new band (I remember seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn when he was just starting so I know the trill that goes up the spine when realizing that the performer is something special).

But there is nothing cheesy about the aftermath of the performance as the series stays true to its sublime realism.

Yet good things come to those who persevere and in this case, it is the quiet Koyuki who shows why he is the "hero".

To be sure, there are flaws in this series. The most obvious are: 1) The animation could be a little uneven and 2) the Leon Sykes plot turn is a bit weird and I'm not sure if it was necessary.

But in spite of the flaws, obvious and not so obvious, the overall story of a young man finding his dream in life and the birth of a band that could be something special more than makes up for the flaws.

And I admit that at the last note of the last episode, I found myself a little sad that it was over because it was clear that the journey for Koyuki and his band had really just begun.

Yet, that's what makes this series so great. The journey really hasn't ended so that last note lingers just the way it is supposed to.
