This CD, BEING SOCIALLY AT EASE, by GINIE SAYLES, teaches certain rules and regulations that rich people most probably have been brought up with, but about which the rest of us know few, if any parts. Just as, in some houses, eating peas with a knife shows balance, social training and standing, and "panache", whilst in other homes, it shows only a desire to make oneself...

1.0 out of 5 stars Starts of well but get sidetracked into topics not of interest.
This CD has the potential to be very helpful and starts off with some easy suggestions. Then it sidetracks into how to get appointed to boards and committees and what an honor it is if you are asked to lead this board or committee as Chairman. It should be re-done with more basic suggestions and examples about every day social situations. Unless you are concerned...

This CD has the potential to be very helpful and starts off with some easy suggestions. Then it sidetracks into how to get appointed to boards and committees and what an honor it is if you are asked to lead this board or committee as Chairman. It should be re-done with more basic suggestions and examples about every day social situations. Unless you are concerned about being appointed to committees I would not recommend this CD. I feel I wasted my money.

This CD, BEING SOCIALLY AT EASE, by GINIE SAYLES, teaches certain rules and regulations that rich people most probably have been brought up with, but about which the rest of us know few, if any parts. Just as, in some houses, eating peas with a knife shows balance, social training and standing, and "panache", whilst in other homes, it shows only a desire to make oneself the center of attention, and foolishly ape one's social "betters", this CD lays forth some of the many unspoken rules in upper-middle-class-to-upper-upper class business and social situations.

For instance, there is, says Ms. Sayles, a great deall of differece between a "SOCIAL social dinner", and a "BUSINESS social dinner." One can do at one type of dinner what one must never do at the other kind of dinner -- that is, if one wishes to achieve or maintain one's social standing...and/or raise it!

This CD can't give ALL social nuanes in its alloted 21 minutes and 11 seoonds -- but it certainly uses all of that time to get many, many important ideas and details across. Ms. Sayles not only speaks of what you must do -- but also of the rewards that await those who do the right things. And this is NOT "elitist", or "ritualistic" behaviour -- it is mostly just good oommon sense! Letitia Baldridge, (Mre. Kennedy's social secretary, and Chief of Protocol during the Kennedy Presidency), has said that "manners are NOT to make others unoomortable -- but to put others at their ease." Though a finishing school would undoubtedly teach more, this CD is full of good advice on how to put others -- and yourself--
at ease in any social situation!

A true bargain to listen to, over, and over, and over, again!
