The unit heats up quickly and makes great quesadillas - it just does what you bought it for.

There's a latch that helps clamp the top part of this clamshell device to the bottom part.

At first we used this Q-maker every day. Perhaps that's why it fell apart. It still works but the handle is extremely temperamental when my young adult sons overfill the shells. The plastic around the hinge has cracked off but it still works. The drip drawer handle cracked off as well. It's better with a plate under it now. We received this as a gift in April 2011. It's now July 2011. I'm in the market for a better one.

Got it home and made a Great quesadilla. However, it was impossible to clean. Some of the cheese went over the wells in the bottom into the crevices between the plastic and the cooking part. No way to clean it out. We used tooth picks trying to clean it out. Poor design. Purchased a George Foreman Quesadilla maker and it is much superior. The larger size also closes the outside edges of the tortillas to keep the filling in. Even if it did go over it is made to easily clean.

We were guests at our son and daughter-in-law's house and they made quesadillas for us on their maker. There were so good we came home and ordered our own and have used it every week. Very easy to use. Very easy to clean, especially if you wipe it off with a dry paper towel when it's hot and the cheese is still liquid. I'd highly recommend it.

I've had one of these for about eight years or so. When I first got it I used it all the time. I liked the quesadillas but my wife and kids weren't thrilled with them. You can't put much into them in the way of fillings and cheese or you can't snap the latch. It ended up sitting on a shelf a lot and this just reminded me to get it out and give it away.

It's a lot easier to make way better quesadillas on a griddle or in a frying pan.

I am always a little sceptical of kitchen gadgets. Most things can be done with normal appliances for no extra cost. I received this as a Christmas gift. I took it out along with a pan. I wanted to compare this gadget with cooking on the stove top.

The description says 4-5 minutes for a quesadilla. I can do that on the stove top with the same results. I was pleasantly surprised. It only takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute to cook a quesadilla that is perfect. It cooks to a nice crispy tortilla without burning it. We have made cheese, cheese and chicken, and egg and cheese. Everyone has been good. Now note, you have to precook ingredients. It warms and melts cheese, but doesn't cook raw ingredients. The same if you were making your quesadillas in the microwave or stove top.

This would be a great party gadget. Quesadilla night! Have toppings made ahead of time and everyone make their own. Since it cooks so fast, it would be fun to do.

My only complaints, cord is a little short. You need to be pretty close to a plug. The plastic latch is very cheaply made and I don't see it lasting long. My suggestion is to use a hot pad and push the top down from the top and then latch. The latch won't have as much pressure put on it.

The unit heats up quickly and makes great quesadillas - it just does what you bought it for. I bought mine in a brick and mortar store (not here) but am completely happy with what I got.

Made great quesadillas till latch broke. There's a latch that helps clamp the top part of this clamshell device to the bottom part. It is made out of cheap plastic. It broke very easily within the first 3 times I used the device. Now, the only way to clamp the top part to the bottom part is to use a clamp I bought from the hardware store. Without this clamp, the quesadillas will not cook properly. Note: this is the exact same device as the El Paso Chile 10023 900-Watt Quesadilla Maker. It's just sold by somebody else.!
