Editorial Reviews

The Beatles open up the floodgates in 1964 with their invasion of the American pop charts and an army of British bands and artists followed to totally dominate the music scene in the mid 1960s. Fellow U.K pop idols like Gerry & the Pacemakers, Herman s Hermits, Freddie & the Dreamers, Wayne Fontana, Billy J. Kramer, The Searchers and more placed hit after hit on the North American radio waves and the pop music world was never the same. Hits like Ferry Cross the Mersey , Mrs. Brown You ve Got a Lovely Daughter , The Game of Love , Love Potion #9 all burst into the Top 10 with ease with many capturing the #1 spot away from the Fab Four at times. This collection contains 36 of those fabulous songs, many re-recorded in new digital stereo for your enjoyment.

Well...this CD collection is no bargain--it is a disappointment.

If you wish to hear these songs as you remember them, this is NOT the collection for you.
Krysia
Quality of music is terrible and none of them sound like the original bands.

When is a bargain NOT a bargain? Well...this CD collection is no bargain--it is a disappointment. My initial excitement was quickly squashed when it became apparent that all but three of the songs were a less than top quality performance by the artist or group. It sounded to me like these were "practice rounds" that werent quite up to snuff for release yet. You would be better off to spend your money on a KNOWN CD of an individual artist or group If I could give this less than one star, I would.)

If you wish to hear these songs as you remember them, this is NOT the collection for you. The lyrics are the same, but these songs must be the first or second "rehearsals"! They are unpolished and definitely NOT the final versions that were sold to the public! The worst offender is "The Rising Sun". The first half of the song is done acapella, no music, just saying the words: and the rest of the song is just awful.

I agree with the first and second reviewers because
they for the most part sound like poor cover band music

Be afraid. This isn't those great old songs you wanted. It's the original singers with a cheesed up band that even has some lousy drums, heavy reverb and poor studio simulation so it sounds a little 60'ish. And what is that horrible bright high frequency boinging through most songs?.....an electric sitar with a treble booster? There are no credits or info on the package so you don't know who to blame.......

I love the British Bands & was excited to get this one.
I couldn't believe how lousy it was.
Not just the smattering of "good" songs but it was defective.
The case arrives and all the C.D's were flopping around.
Don't waste your money.
If you want a solid collection's try " The British Invasion 1963 - 1967 5 stars!
Or 25 Hits from the British Invasion, again 5 stars, for starters.

I do not think these are the original artists. They don't sound it and I only made it thru the first CD. Garbage, they might be good for target pratice.

I made the horrible mistake of not reading the customer reviews before purchasing this. I thought it would be a great gift for my husband who is British and loved these bands. Well, this is the worst sounding, disappointing collection of songs I have ever listened to!!!! I couldn't even find one song that sounded good. Quality of music is terrible and none of them sound like the original bands. My only hope is that I can return them since the packaging has been opened. Believe me, I couldn't even finish listening to one song!!! So disappointing. Lesson learned. ALWAYS READ CUSTOMER REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING ANYTHING!!!!!!!

Bought this-saw the poor reviews and thought "how bad could it be?" Well, pretty bad. If these are the original artists, someone must have had them by the throat. Tinny sound, sudden clip-offs and not the original hit recordings. I compared several with some originals - not even close. I am returning mine....
