The delivery was fast and the price at $US299 (especially for Australia given our clothing prices) was excellent but these are not the important thing's, are they? It's no use getting a bargain if it just good or passable. This is not just good or passable - the quality, both in stitching and the soft and reasonably thick leather, is superb. As usual, think carefully about your size (I did; perfect fit) and what you will wear under it (maybe over-size; I was right on the cusp of one size so it was no-brainer to go one size up). The only criticism is that the cuff straps either need two more holes (at their spacing points) or begin a bit further down. And another point - the trench-coat style requires doing up the belt; getting into a car with the belt undone allows the dangling belt ends to get caught in the door and trail along the road (the soft-black "ceramic" type buckle doesn't like road surfaces - sigh!). So pick up your "petticoats" (belt) or do it up - otherwise you will spoil an absolutely perfect experience (sigh) so that it becomes "merely" perfect.

Maybe it's because I'm not normally a clothes horse, but I am astonished at the number of compliments I've gotten from teenagers, women and man friends over this coat. I decided to upgrade my look as I approach my 60th run around the sun, and it was money very well spent. One caution though...be sure to have a muffler/scarf with you as the lapels do not button across the throat area as some trench coats do. The fit is perfect, the quality is excellent, the finish is consistent and the weight is moderate. I "sits" well in the car and is comfortable even in long drives.

your adverts neglect to mention one important fact, lamb is the softest but the least durable. the slightest scratch will cause it to peel. swtteer buffalo
and g pihides are the stongest of the leathers. please mention the type of leather the jacket or coat is made of

I received this item and its very nice and stylish. The workmanship seems good and it looks good when you put it on. I really like it, and my negative comments really don't relate to the quality of this item, but to the hassle in ordering, and some advice to the difference between sizes. I would very much recommend this item if its ordered correctly to get the right fit. That being said, the Seller was very courteous and helpful in getting the item replaced and responding to all of my questions/comments.

My only negative comment about the item, itself, is that there is no way to close the coat at the neck. Another commentator stated that you need a scarf and that is correct -- no top button, which is a thumbs down -- Hey guys, This is a Rain/Trench Coat -- to be worn in the RAIN and COLD!!. Please see the picture with the model -- the deep "V" looks nice, but you want more protection when its cold and rainy. I'm going to take this to a tailor to see whether she can insert a top button and button hole like one would find on a traditional trench coat -- unless there is a leather issue it shouldn't be too hard.

HOWEVER -- they don't describe how to size this item. The only sizing chart is Amazon's own. I wear a size 43/44 suit coat so I ordered a large per Amazon's chart. The trench coat I received was very bulky, could have been an XL. BUT THERE IS A CATCH.

NOW -- you have to ask yourself one question and its not whether you feel lucky (punk). After fitting the size large versus the size medium the question is "How do you want this to fit?" After I had returned the size large, I happened to watch Bogart in The Big Sleep. I noticed that his trench coat fit very loose and bulky. That is how the size Large fit me. If you want that look, then OK (if you look closely at the model in the picture, you will see bottom and side folds that also show a more bulky fit). My problem with that (and I think with the others who have commented on this) is I think leather should fit more snugly, without folds or bulk, so the medium works for me. Both coats fit fine in the shoulders and arms -- the large simply had a lot more width down below which would be traditional. If I had wanted the bulky look, then the large would have been fine.

Buying this item became a guessing game which is really unfortunate, because it seems that the Seller's description could have explained this. We are buying clothing, something we want to look good in, and it seems that where there are clear choices like this, the solution of an adequate description would have been a good idea.

All of this being said, however, this is a really nice piece of clothing, looks great (hopefully will wear great) and is the right weight for temperatures that are not too cold. Hey, this is leather, not heavy wool.

I returned the BGSD Men's New Zealand Lambskin Leather Long Coat in exchange for this one due to fit problems with the other one.

This is a nice coat with good quality leather, and good value for the price. I've seen higher quality leather, but I would expect a coat with noticeably higher quality leather than this one to run over a thousand dollars.

The belt is long enough to tie in front (which is how you should wear it, not buckled), and if you're worried about it falling off or out a car door or whatever (as another reviewer mentioned), you should just buckle the belt through the loops in the back until you plan to use it (or leave it at home -- yes, it comes out easily).

It's reasonably warm, but not for arctic conditions. I'd say it's good to about 10-15F over a suit, maybe single digits for a short time (e.g., if you're pretty sure you're going to catch a cab out front).

The pockets are deep enough and in the right place that you can stick your hands in them for warmth.

I don't know how well the leather will hold up over time, so it's hard to give an unequivocal five stars.

All in all, it's formal enough to wear over a suit, but casual enough to wear over your favorite all-black get-up for that pseudo Matrix/Neo effect.

This coat just arrived for my son's birthday and it is absolutely beautiful! The leather is very soft and luxurious and the cut is perfection! My son is 6'2 and weighs about 270lbs and this coat fits him perfectly at 2x. So glad that I purchased this coat!

The Leather Trench coat actually fit perfectly. I was in Chicago for a wedding on a cruise ship and the top deck was open for observing everything around, the wind was blowing about 30 mph as the boat was under movement, all the other guests that came up only stayed a few min as the wind went through their light jackets like they were made of mesh. This coat blocked all the wind, so was able to stay and take numerous photos. Great buy and a great coat.

I have been looking for a trench coat for this upcoming winter, and i finally found this coat. Its stylish and affordable, but both of the sizes are too large, i'm only 16 so i need a smaller size, i have a smaller chest and need about a small or medium, i'm about 6 feet tall, i dont know if this problem can be fixed or if they can only make these in this size, but i would gladly buy one if they had them in a smaller size.

This trench coat is really great.

Its has high quality leather and its stitching is very well done.

As the other reviewer pointed out, choose the size of the coat very carefully.

The only complain I have is that the belt was way to big, probably was mixed up from a larger size coat, and I had to take it to get shortened. But it was no hassle at all, so I recommend this coat to anybody looking for this style.

No joke, this is a real beauty and in the month I've owned it has drawn rave reviews from just about everyone i know; hangs great [open & belted up], provides pretty good weather protection, great length [I really wanted to avoid any Matrix references] and is great quality - so why only three stars?
This leads me to the 'buts':
#1 - the waist belt is ridiculously long - done up it hangs down at least 18 inches, if you want to wear this open with the belt secured round the back, you'll think you're grown a tail - the manufacturer must have a one-size fits all policy and for the average waisted man [36 inch] it is just way too long.
#2 - I'm minus one sleeve wrist buckle, now whether this wasn't shipped or I inadvertently left this is the packing carton or lost it somewhere down the line, I cannot say but i did finally notice it a week after purchase. I contacted the seller asking to buy a replacement and was casually informed that they don't stock any - huh?, say's I, because with neither the wrist or waist belts secured to the coat, I cannot be the only one that's mislaid one can I? Apparently I am because they didn't even make a half-hearted promise to consider this for the future...so, I'm now faced with a visit to a leather-smith to a/shorten the belt & b/ find a replacement sleeve buckle, which kinda peeves me considering the original outlay...final words - nice coat but left with a sour taste in my mouth.
