Simplicity

Using the BIC FlameDisk is convenient--no complicated lighting ritual or drawn-out cleanup. Whether you've never grilled in your life or you're a pro looking to grill on the go, anyone can use the BIC FlameDisk in minutes. Leave the lighter fluid and charcoal at home.

Portable

Weighing in at under a pound, the BIC FlameDisk is a convenient way to grill on the go. There's no need to lug around a bag of messy charcoal, lighter fluid, or a heavy propane tank. Just place the FlameDisk into your charcoal grill, and you're ready to cook. The BIC FlameDisk is ideal for tailgating, camping, boating, picnics, and anytime you want to grill on the go.

Heats Up Quickly --Ready to cook in just 4 minutes!

The BIC FlameDisk is ready to grill in a matter of minutes. With a BIC Multi-Purpose lighter, light the fuel through any one of the outer holes. Flame will automatically spread. Wait 4 minutes until the grill's grate is hot to start cooking.

BIC FlameDisk
No ash, soot, or messy cleanup.
No Mess & No Clean-Up

Unlike charcoal there's absolutely no mess with the BIC FlameDisk. The FlameDisk leaves no hot coals, ash, or soot in the bottom of the grill--that's the definition of no cleanup!

BIC FlameDisk will burn for approximately 40 minutes before fuel is used up. Before disposing of BIC FlameDisk, burn all fuel completely and then let cool an additional 10 minutes before handling. If it is necessary to extinguish flame before all fuel is burned completely, cover grill with lid and close all grill vents.

Alternatively, carefully extinguish by pouring approximately 1 cup of water evenly over the top of the FlameDisk. Let BIC FlameDisk cool an additional 10 minutes before handling.

Dispose of cool FlameDisk in your trash or recycle according to local requirements for recycling of aluminum. May only be recyclable in communities where aluminum products may be recycled. Cleanup after grilling has never been easier in fact, cleanup is basically non-existent!

Fuel

The BIC FlameDisk uses ethanol as the main fuel ingredient. Our ethanol comes from corn, a renewable resource. The BIC FlameDisk fuel burns cleaner than charcoal with 90% less carbon monoxide and VOC's per grilling event.

BIC FlameDisk Aluminum Lid

Love that flame-grilled flavor but hate the hassle of charcoal? The BIC FlameDisk keeps all the flavor but none of the hassle thanks to the aluminum lid. When juice drips off food, it lands on the built-in aluminum lid creating true flame-grilled taste.

How It Works
BIC FlameDisk
BIC FlameDisk
BIC FlameDisk
BIC FlameDisk

The BIC FlameDisk fits in most charcoal grills, for best results use a table top grill. When ready to light, peel off film cover exposing the holes of the FlameDisk. Remove food grate from grill. Place FlameDisk in bottom of grill in level position with the holes facing up. Fully open all grill vents. With a BIC Multi-Purpose lighter, light fuel through any one of the outer holes. Flame will automatically spread.

Carefully replace food grate, wait 4 minutes, then cook food. Important: Keep grill lid Off while cooking. Utilizing solidified ethanol technology, FlameDisk provides approximately 40 minutes of grilling time. The FlameDisk's unique lid provides excellent flame-grilled flavor. At the end of your grilling session there is no soot, ash, or dangerous hot coals. Before disposing of FlameDisk, burn all fuel completely and then let cool an additional 10 minutes before handling. Alternatively, carefully extinguish by pouring approximately 1 cup of water evenly over the top of the FlameDisk.

  • Read and follow all warnings and instructions for use, disposal, and storage before using this product.
  • Keep and store away from children.
  • Eye irritation may occur if fuel contacts eyes. If fuel is touched, avoid contact with eyes and wash hands immediately. • For outdoor use only.
  • FlameDisk is a charcoal alternative. Do not use in a gas grill. Do not use lighter fluid.
  • Follow instructions and warnings provided by grill manufacturer when using this product.
  • Do not peel film cover from FlameDisk until ready to light.
  • When FlameDisk is in use:
    • Flame may be difficult to see and FlameDisk will be hot.
    • Keep away from materials that can catch fire (e.g., leaves, paper plates). Never use on a surface that can catch fire.
    • Do not leave unattended before it has extinguished and cooled.
    • Do not place food directly on FlameDisk.
    Use Instructions

    1. When ready to light, peel off film cover exposing the holes of the FlameDisk.
    2. The fuel in the FlameDisk requires air to work. Make sure the top of the FlameDisk is not pressed into the fuel. If the top is pressed into the fuel there may not be enough air. Use a tool to carefully lift up the top and create space for air.
    3. Remove food grate from grill. Place FlameDisk in bottom of grill in level position with the holes facing up. Fully open all grill vents.
    4. With a BIC Multi-Purpose lighter or long match, light fuel through any one of the outer holes. Flame will automatically spread. Warning! Flame may be hard to see. Assume fuel is lit, even if you do not see flames.
    5. Carefully replace food grate, wait 4 minutes, then cook food. Do not close grill lid. The FlameDisk cooks food at about the same rate and temperature as charcoal.
    6. FlameDisk will burn for approximately 40 minutes. Burn all fuel completely and allow FlameDisk to cool before handling. See disposal instructions below.

    Disposal Instructions

    1. FlameDisk will burn for approximately 40 minutes before fuel is used up. Before disposing of FlameDisk, burn all fuel completely and then let cool an additional 10 minutes before handling. Warning! Flame may be hard to see and may burn below the top of the FlameDisk. Make sure flame is extinguished and FlameDisk has cooled before touching it or disposing of it.
    2. If it is necessary to extinguish flame before all fuel is burned completely, cover grill with lid and close all grill vents. Alternatively, carefully extinguish by pouring approximately 1 cup of water evenly over the top of the FlameDisk. Let FlameDisk cool an additional 10 minutes before handling. Warning! Avoid getting water/fuel mixture on clothing or skin. Do not attempt to extinguish flames by blowing on them.
    3. Do not relight FlameDisk after flame has been extinguished. FlameDisk is a non-refillable single use product.
    4. Dispose of cool FlameDisk in your trash or recycle according to local requirements for recycling of aluminum. May only be recyclable in communities where aluminum products may be recycled.

    Storage Instructions

Store away from flame, sparks and heat. FlameDisk may take longer to light if stored at colder temperatures (below 50 degrees F).

Got this on a whim but it turned out to be great! I had a cookout at a local park, where they have those big, wide-open grills, which are hard to get charcoal lit in. I was attracted to the no-mess, no-fuss, and it worked just as the box said it would. It looks and feels like a novelty-sized tealight, and it gets very hot. I got two disks for wide coverage; the flames worked great and my brats were all cooked through in exactly the time expected. Everyone devoured them and nobody died. A third disk for smores worked like a charm.

Downside, it emits flames the whole time it cooks, which got a little hairy a couple times on a windy day with a park grill. I don't know how well it would work in a closed grill. But at the park, it's perfect. Plus, there's less to lug around, less to clean up, and no smoke.

I tried the flame disk for the first time today. I had burgers on the grill and my charcoal wasn't hot enough, so I decided to try the flame disk. After using charcoal all my life, lighting a disk to cook my food just seemed weird. I'll come back and let you know how the food tastes. It is imperative that you read the box and follow all the warnings!

These are the pros/cons I found so far:

Pros:

Easy to light.

Holds fire/flame easily.

Cooks food quickly. It's supposed to last 35-45 mins and I could see myself cooking quite a bit of food in that amount of time.

Cost effective with the use of the coupons out there. You may only need one disk if you aren't barbecuing everything in your deep freezer.

Convenient

Can be used in small or large grills.

Cons:

Putting out the fire. It's easy enough, but the box says to let the fire go out on it's own. I used mine for 10 mins and really didn't want to watch the open flame for another 35 mins. In looking at their website, it says you can pour water on it, but I didn't know that at the time. They could stand to put this fact on the box.

Can't close the grill while cooking, so you have to watch the grill the entire time as the flame gets pretty high.

The flame gets pretty high while cooking and seems one could be burned easily. I also ended up with some burned food because it cooks quickly.

Bits of food stuck to the grill literally caught on fire. You must be super attentive and careful when using this product.

Seeing the flame can be difficult.

I don't know how that other reviewer used this product but I followed the directions and it worked flawlessly. I can't tell you how much I appreciate ZERO preparation time and ZERO clean up time. My days of cleaning up dirty grills are OVER!

This is a good product if you want to grill small items in a fast, easy way. I grilled marinated thin pork chops the first time I used this product on a small Weber tabletop kettle grill.

It was about 72 degrees F and no wind. As advertised, flames lit instantly and we're ready to use in 4-5 minutes. Flames cooked 4-thin but wide blade chops well with one exception (which was my fault).. do not leave unattended. I did and had a flare up. Pork chops have lots of fat, so I should have known better. Oh well, they still came out very juicy and took about 15-20 mins. total to cook. After, I grilled canned pineapple slices and bell peppers. Came out very nice.

Flames burned almost an hour; I could have cooked something else after the pineapple and bell peppers.

Pro: Easy/fast starting. Reliable flame. SUPER easy clean up. Light weight and very portable.

Cons: Flames are a bit high, but are yellow/orange and don't burn as hot as the blue flame that you can't see that stays low and inside of the disk. Although Bic says to not put lid on, I bet you could if you watched it carefully and left lid holes open; this would have helped with the flare up I had.

Bought because can have a charcoal grill on patio at my apt complex. As with any fire burning grill, a windy day is a bad day to grill. Had low winds and was able to grill hotdogs, smoke sausages , veggie burgers and corn on cob with tanle top grill. Fire burned well for about an hour. Best part was cleanup was a breeze. Definetly recommend.

My husband found one of these awhile back, tried it and loved it! No messy charcoal to carry with you. Quick cooking, quick cleanup. And, buying the 10-pack through Amazon saved us "big time" from purchasing single disks anywhere else.

Burned for 50 mins. Heat ranged from 250(open) - 300(closed) degrees. Cooked 4 nice size burgers and 4 large hot dogs. Good for a quick tailgate meal or emergency grilling in the event of a power outage.
