5.0 out of 5 stars Very good pen
Good flow when writing, pen provides a good grip when holding it. I hate skinny pens and find it very difficult to find one that is "fat" enough for me. This one is pretty good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Awful construction. Complete failure.
These pens are awful. The plastic pen is terribly constructed. It's held together with plastic-on-plastic friction. If you press down too hard while writing, the top click-button mechanism pops off, along with the spring and ink barrel. You then have to re-assemble the pen by pushing it together to continue writing. If you press too hard again, it pops off again, and the...

I was looking for some inexpensive pens for stocking stuffers. These caught my eye because they are Bic, but also because they were retractable and wider than regular inexpensive pens. They turned out to be a very nice pen that writes well and is comfortable to hold. The increased width makes them much less tiring to write with, and far nicer than your average bargain pen. I had never seen these in stores and am very glad Amazon carries them. No one will mistake it for a Mont Blanc pen, but I am not going to cry if I lose it.
A very good buy. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, February 5, 2011

This review is from: BIC Wide Body Retractable Ballpoint Pen, Refillable, Medium Point (0.8 mm), Black, 12 Pens (Office Product)
I've been searching for a comfortable pen that I can stand writing with for hours. I am taking the Bar exam soon, and as a constant computer user I needed to train my hand again to write for long periods of time - just in case my computer fails. I found that the wider the pen, the more comfortable it was on hand and wrist. This pen does the trick! It's not super expensive, so don't count on beautiful lines and color, but it works, and the rubber pad is very comfortable.

I've only been using this pen for about a week, but I have not had any of the issues in quality that one other user mentioned.

If you press down too hard while writing, the top click-button mechanism pops off, along with the spring and ink barrel. You then have to re-assemble the pen by pushing it together to continue writing. If you press too hard again, it pops off again, and the pen falls apart. There's no way to tighten it.

In this day and age, making a decent pen should not be difficult. BIC is definitely saving money and skimping on quality.
