I was looking for a hard board that was resistant to dings and rock damage for occasional use on the rivers. I have an inflatable that is good, but doesn't have the glide that a hard board does. After shopping around I decided on the BIC Sport Ace-Tec. I picked up the 11'6" board that is 32.5" wide for stability. It is no heavier than my 11'6" x 32" Epoxy board. That is a great benefit! The glide is easy and fast ant it is extremely stable. Beginners will find this board easy to learn on and will SUP on their first try. The size and length are good for bigger paddlers and it has also been great when I take my granddaughter paddling with me. The price is right and it does exactly what I bought it for.

Only thing I don't care for is the color. River and lake paddling tend to stain white boards unless you can wash them well each time you use them. Choice of colors would be a great change.

This is a good entry level stable board I use to paddle the rivers and surf in the bays. It's wide enough for good stability yet doesn't weigh a ton like other larger stable boards. My only complaint is they leave a sharp seam around the side of the board which they could file down. I have a scar on the top of my foot from the seam scraping it.

For $1000+ that you are paying for this board, they could at least get rid of the seam for you. Their support people say that you can sand it down. If you have a sander this may be fairly easy but otherwise forget trying to do so with sand paper.

This is my first sup. I have shopped around to all the various types and models of sup's. I selected this board because of its durability and lightweight. Other sup boards that were built up like a surfboard (epoxy fiberglass) were 5 to 10 lbs lighter, but were more fragile and prone to dings. The soft sup's (foam covered boards) were on the heavy side and the foam was prone to cutting when the paddle hit the edges. Bic also makes a model called the duratec. This is a polyethylene shell, same plastic as rotomolded kayaks. The duratec sup's had a great price, but the weight of the board and only having a single fin deterred me from the purchase. I was looking for a true all around board which I can surf and use on the flat water. The acetec boards came with 3 fin slots for either single or thruster fin set up. Bic only sells the acetec with a single FCS fin, you have to buy the other two fins as an upgrade. Calm water paddling was easy to learn on such a wide board. With my confidence on a high, I tried my beginner skills at the ocean front with 1 to 2 feet swells. It was amazing. The board was stable and easy to ride through the surf out past the surf zone. If you are standing in a breeze greater than 5 knots, you will begin to drift. Stand Up Paddling into the wind was very tiresome. Downwind paddles were a "breeze." This board is able to catch 1-2 foot waves which was pretty amazing. I have to practice a bit more before attempting larger waves. The only negative comments i have are: 1) the padding is a bit harsh when paddling on your knees 2) you need a nice size vehicle to carry multiple sup's this size 3) only comes with 1 FCS fin

One side note: if you have 3 nieces that are under 100 lbs ea, they can all ride a wave on this awesome board at the same time, as long as you give them a nice push.

Smaller board (9'6") is good for smaller people. Only complaint I have is one that I also read online by other review. The outer edge of board has a ridge around it. When you do fall off the board, its just one more things that can get you on the way down. I know this sounds silly but last time I was at the beach. I fell off and my body rolled along side of the board and it felt like I cut off my nipple when it hit that little plastic ridge. I read that you can sand it off, not sure why they did not do this at plant. Don't want to seam like I'm ripping the board apart....I'm very happy with the purchase and feel as if I got a great product for my family.
