I did not purchase this board on Amazon, but rather through a local shop that had the 2012 models on clearance. But after seeing two 1-star reviews, I wanted to provide some feedback (and balance).

To address the other negative reviews, I have not had any issues whatsoever with the foam padding. So far it's been durable and provides plenty of traction. As for the fin, it's a standard FCS fin. While it's true that no instructions came with it, frankly installation is pretty self explanatory and as one poster stated, there are step by step videos on Youtube. The only thing that was still a question for me was where to postion the fin in the fin box. Again, Youtube came through and placing the fin toward the back of the box improves straight-line tracking and moving it forward improves maneuverability. I placed mine as far back as possible and it works like a charm.

After trying stand up paddle boarding on vacation and enjoying it, we decided to get one for a vacation home for use on flat, calm water. After searching different options, we settled on the Bic Sport ACS 11'4 based on reviews about it's actual performance and durability. After picking it up and trying it out, we could not be happier. It's extremely stable and tracks perfect for beginners (like us) and I'm sure it's fine for intermediate users. As for buoyancy, at 205 lbs, I was perfectly comfortable on it and was able to paddle around with no problems at all. My kids absolutely loved it - both my 13 year old and 15 year old were able to stand up and paddle with their friends on board.

I think that durability, at least in our case, is one of the key features of this board (if I'm not mistaken, Bic Sport has now renamed this model "DuraTec").

I do not own this board, but rented it for a week while on vacation in Florida. As the saying goes, "nothing parties harder than a rental" and we beat the heck of our BIC Sport ACS SUP with nary a nick or dent. Although the board is heavier than other SUP's, it makes up for it in durability. The board was great for cruising in the marina to surfing waves. Highly recommended starter board for the price!

the rubber pad on top of the board is both dark and light gray. either the pad was cut too short at the factory (why send it out like that??) or it shrank leaving a big gap between the light and dark parts of the pad. also the dark pad was coming off, not glued properly. pictures are posted under customer pics.
real hassle to return this because it is so big. it has to be taken back to the freight company and you have to pay for it then try to get reimbursed from amazon. just a terrible experience all around.

This is my 7th SUP board. I am 5'11 220lbs and paddle everyday in Maui (surf and cruise).

Bought this board to surf on a roadtrip on the mainland.

Opened the box and the deck pad was all mis aligned similar to the other guy's photos. Caused by the changes in temp and the glue. Looks bad, but does not affect performance.

Easily floated by 220lbs. Not sure why they say this board is for women and children.

Caught some nice waves from knee high up to overhead sets.

On flat water, tracks well and is pretty fast. Easy to turn.

Super heavy though.

Durable. Didnt have to worry about anyone dropping in on me.

Would give 5 stars, but the deck pad and weight bring it down.

I picked this up on a whim having never tried paddleboarding, but being someone who likes kayaking, surfing, and watersports in general, I was pretty confident I'd enjoy this, and I sure do! I use this more than any of my other toys, it's so easy to throw on the roof and head down to the lake. The board is light enough to lift by yourself, and seems to be very sturdy, I find it very stable, but it's the only one I've used, so I don't have a comparison. The board I have is actually called an Oxbow, but as I understand it, it is identical to the bic board, with the exception of graphics, and perhaps the deck pad. Speaking of which, on mine the deck pad is essentially a thin layer of grippy paint or something, from the pictures the bic deck pad looks a lot nicer. Mine may also be an older model as I did buy it second hand on craigslist. The second thing is, it has dimples all over it. The seller suggested perhaps it was from the sun and the temperature differential between the inner foam core, and the outer plastic (ACS) cover. Regardless, other than looking a little funky, it doesn't seem to affect anything as far as performance is concerned. The board paddles quite well and is reasonably quick, though I'm sure a narrower (and less stable) board would be a lot quicker, I'd personally rather have the stability and just work a little harder to go fast (and get a better workout)! I have used this board to paddle for fun, for excercise, I have fished from it, I have snorkeled and swam from it. You can paddle it standing up, sitting down, kneeling, or even on your stomach like a surfboard and (as I learned last night) with some paddle gloves you can really move this way!Read more ›
