Good pencil for tests!

I bought this as a filler to get the free shipping. My first .9mm pencil, i must say its a fine pencil, tough to break and good for filling in bubbles.

Its high quality. If you press hard the lead wont go back in, so it holds strong unlike some other cheap mechanicals. Theres a cap for the eraser making it look like a pen.

Great pencil for hours of mind numbing Physics homework.

When spending 10+ hours on a single quantum mechanics problem set (and getting lots of things wrong along the way) you tend to get frustrated. That being said, these BIC velocity pencils perform better on this task than any other pencil before them. In the past, I have abused pencils quite a bit (breaking lead, cracking the plastic, tearing off the eraser, etc.) and these pencils can withstand all my abuse and more. When I get frustrated from mis-writing a 3-4 line long function, I tend to erase furiously and commence to re-write while pushing down on the pencil twice as hard. This pencil's eraser erases everything quite well (although I usually use a dedicated eraser), and it comes with multiple back-ups (you WILL need them). The lead is thick enough to not break while I am writing insanely fast and hard, yet it is thin enough to leave a recognizable component of my feverish scribble. It also writes very smooth so your work simply "flows". The grip is very comfortable so my fingers are not bruised when I have completed the feat.

Overall, great pencil for people who tend to let out frustration while writing and need a sturdy pencil that is capable of taking abuse.

Best Pencil

I will never buy any other pencil. The lead never breaks (unless you really try), writes well, comfortable. I always had problems with 0.5 lead because its so thin but with this its thick and sturdy.

Not what's shown in the picture.

Pencils work well but not what is shown in the product picture. They've updated the style and I prefer the original. Disappointed to get something other than what I was expecting. My picture shows what the old version looks like with the new version sitting on top.

My favorite pencils

I love these pencils. My kids must too, cause they keep disappearing from my desk! They have 0.9 lead, which means I don't break the lead all the time. They write smoothly, and don't "catch" on the paper. Nice grip, too. If I can help it, I won't use anything else.

Affordable pencil which feels expensive in your hand!

These pencils are awesome. I wish we'd had something like this when I was still in school. I homeschool my daughter and we were getting very tired of sharpening her pencils every little bit, so I purchased these when they were being offered as a lightning deal here on Amazon. They're incredibly comfortable to write with, the width is perfect, and they have just enough heft to make it feel like you're writing with something very expensive. The lead writes evenly and actually doesn't break. That was a big complaint when I used mechanical pencils in school..if you pushed it out even a tiny bit too far, the lead would break. It was annoying and a waste of perfectly good lead. With these pencils, that problem is a thing of the past. Even better, they're quite affordable.

Highly recommended!

MY FAVORITE SO FAR.

Over the years I have used literally hundreds of different mechanical pencils. These things have been around for years and years (actually, their history is pretty interesting), and new ones seem to pop up every year; always better than the old ones; or so they say.

Well, I still use a lot of these things even though I prefer wooden pencils. Of all the newer mechanical pencils, I have found this Bick Velocity to met my needs better than the rest. I recently started using them and have been extremely satisfied.

I use these primarily for note taking while playing on the computer, reading or watching movies. I have found that with even my heavy hand that I get fewer lead breaks with these pencils than with others. These pencils are like writing with a number 2 wooden pencil and they go on quite smoothly. The metal extra tip gives them the increased support so that you do not have the breakage that you find with so many writing instruments of this sort.

They have a very comfortable grip, the lead is easily extended or retracted and the eraser works quite well. While the cost here on Amazon is a bit harsh, this should not distract from the pencil itself as they can be bought at most discount and office supply stores.

For a general use, workhorse type mechanical, I certainly have not complaints about this one.

Best Pencil EVER

I have found that this pencil is the best pencil that i have ever used! The 0.9 mm lead is tough and strong, so it does not break unless you put a lot of force onto it. I write hard, so this pencil has come to my liking, because the lead is hard to break.The soft grip relieves pressure on my fingertips, and the eraser comes with a cap on it, so nobody will see all of those dirty black marks from erasing, and the pencil looks nice and clean.This pencil lets you have the ultimate writing experience!

Best mechanical pencil for the workshop. Great value.

My husband uses these in his work shop. Has to be this one as he puts the pressure on and these have metal tips that can take it...so he is not breaking leads all the time.
