About the Author

Michelle Carley is the President of the BIG E-Z Bookkeeping Company. She began her career over 20 years ago as a bookkeeper. She learned accounting from practical experience and eventually became a controller for two companies. Carley has taught numerous workshops on record-keeping, including for the Small Business Development Centers at Wayne State University and the Detroit Self-Employment Project, a pilot program taking people off welfare and helping them start small businesses.

The system that Michelle Carley has developed is simple in its design and powerful in its application. If a small business owner can do a "dot-to-dot" puzzle to generate a picture, following the numbers and letters in the EZ Bookkeeping system will generate a financial picture of her/his enterprise. With this picture in hand, the entrepreneur can make informed business decisions. Not only that, but the entrepreneur really understands the details of where the accounting information is coming from, an skill that all entrepreneurs need to understand. I would encourage any entrepreneur to use the EZ Bookkeeping System for 6 months to get a good feel for how the numbers on the financial statements are summarized. If the process is applied consistently, it can make the difference in the profitability and success of the enterprise.
