Super Convenient,
By Lisa Johnson (Milwaukee, WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BISSELL 17251 Little Green ProHeat Carpet Cleaner with Turbo Brush (Kitchen)
This was the best purchase I have made in a long time. It works so much better than I had expected. I have two young kids (4 years, 7 months) and a Golden Retriever, so you can imagine how many spills take place at my house. The Turbo Brush really works great on muddy paw prints and spilled juice. I also use it to clean all the accidents that happen in my car. It is very easy to use (just add cleaning solution to the clean water and you're ready to go). It also heats the water/cleaning solution for better cleaning. This is a must have for everyone with kids or pets. I have owned other brands of cleaners before, but from here on out - I am a Bissell Buyer!

The brush works pretty well but the vaccum is weak. However, my main problem is that the sprayer stopped working after about 6 months. When I researched for possible solutions, I found that other users (from epinion reviews) had similiar problems with Bissell cleaners. Apparently the spraying units are poorly designed which means that the users need to run clean water through the sprayer after every use so that the cleaning fluids do not gum up the spraying mechanism. This information is not on the manual and was apparently given by a service repair technian. The repair cost is about what this unit costs new. I really wish that I did my research before I bought this unit as it's now useless.

Ineffective,
By Andrea (Janesville, WI United States) - See all my reviews

This vacuum is poorly designed for cleaning up the spills I encounter. The cleaning solution gets out the stains pretty well, but the suction of the vacuum is not powerful enough to remove the liquid from the carpet effectively. Also, the opening of the vacuum is small, so small particles of dirt, hair, etc get stuck and make the suction even worse. The attachments are not very useful and the machine is heavy to lug around. The vacuum is considerably loud as well, which gets irritating when it takes five or ten minutes to clean up the smallest spot.Cleaning the machine itself is also difficult. Particles stuck at the opening of the vacuum can be cleaned by removing a plastic part, but this part is hard to remove and there are grooves the dirt gets caught in that makes them hard to remove. It is a challenge to really clean out the dirty water tank--the design makes it very hard to scrub the sides and bottom, where dirt tends to collect. A paper towel and some seltzer water is almost always more effective and faster than this vacuum. This machine has become just another item in my donate pile.

We purchase ours 5 years ago @ Target after adopting a new puppy - I don't know how we could have lived w/o it. (We have 2 long haired dogs & 2 persian cats in addition to any foster animals) Since I volunteer w/the local animal shelter, I reccomend it to everyone who adopts puppies as well as doggy foster parents. There are some things to know though - buying this doesn't mean you can forgo daily vaccuming and annual carpet shampooing. (We get it done twice a year) The Little green machince is great for quick spot cleaning - but don't expect it to work miracles if the "accident" has been sitting for a day. It should be cleaned after every use - *never* store it w/ dirty water or the smell is unbearable! We run hot, hot water through after every use (keeps solution from clogging) and rinse the dirty water container with bleach to kill odors. (Just be sure to rinse it throughly before using it again!) As for leaking, we haven't had a problem, so I can't answer that problem. One thing I've found helpful is pouring salt (Morton's straight out of the box!) on a wet spot right after it happens to soak up the mositure. Let it sit until dry and then sweep and vaccuum. After doing this I then will use the Bissell to get rid of any lingering smell. Also works w/ red wine! (If you didn't catch the accident, wet the area with water first - it doesn't work as well as if you catch it quickly, but it helps.)

Couldn't live without it!,

We own both the upright Bissell and the Little Green, and use them semi-regularly. I'll admit to being a little obsessive about clean carpet and upholstery, but owning these products makes it easy to keep the carpet of our one year-old home looking great (and has extended the lifespan of our old sofas). The Little Green is perfect for use on small floor messes, the stairs, and couch. Our daughter turned two in October, and, thanks to this machine, we have survived spilled coffee, Children's Advil, soda, juices of all colors, chocolate, and shoeprints-- pretty much anything she can dump out or track in, this product can clean up! The full-sized Bissell is great for steam-cleaning entire rooms, but it's too hard to lug up and down the stairs. If you have a two story home, you may want to consider this hand-held canister cleaner for convenience purposes. It's easy to carry and has an extra-long cord, to boot!

Leaky,
By A Customer
This review is from: BISSELL 17251 Little Green ProHeat Carpet Cleaner with Turbo Brush (Kitchen)
Yep, it's a leaker. Listen, I take care of my appliances. You know how some folks just use something and then toss it aside till next time? I rinse out the hose, rinse out the tanks... wipe down the machine... you get the picture. This thing leaks. Not always, but regularly. And then you have that mess to clean up. Poorly designed. Look elsewhere.

Poor Quality and expensive service,
By A Customer
This review is from: BISSELL 17251 Little Green ProHeat Carpet Cleaner with Turbo Brush (Kitchen)
Had my Little Green Carpent cleaner for about 18 Mos. The unit leaks cleaning fluid out of the bottom. The fluid container's latches (which hold them in the unit) are cheap and break. Replacement parts are only avalible through a service center. For a product that cost less than...a...repair bill seems excessive.

This product literally stinks,
By A Customer
This review is from: BISSELL 17251 Little Green ProHeat Carpet Cleaner with Turbo Brush (Kitchen)
Picked this up from Costco, who I usually trust to have great quality products, to replace a smaller and even less effective hand-held "little Green Machine." The biggest and nastiest problem is that I use it to clean up urine messes made my my 12-yr. old dog and it now wreaks of dog urine. No matter how I clean it stinks so bad I have to keep it in the garage. The sprayer now just makes litle piddles on the carpet (have owned about 1 yr.) as hardly any water comes out. The suction head always got clogged with dog hair and was a pain to clean. The head would also leak out dirty water (right back on to the carpet I just cleaned) if I didn't hold the head upright before I turned off the vaccuum. And it left the carpets so wet that I got darkening from mildew a couple of times.

Initial quality doesn't hold up,
By A Customer
This review is from: BISSELL 17251 Little Green ProHeat Carpet Cleaner with Turbo Brush (Kitchen)
I've had this vacuum for over a year and used it probably 10 times. The brushes and spray system are excellent. However, the latch mechanism that holds the solution resevoir onto the unit has broken (not well-designed) and the motor sounds (and smells) as if it's about to blow up. For the money, I expected more.

Amazing Cleaning Power,

This little green cleaning machine is excellent for cleaning all kinds of "accidents" that occur. The only thing I really dislike is the smell of the Bissell cleaning solution, but if you try to use another type the whole machine foams up and then you need to get a wet vac to get the foam off of the walls, ceiling, and floor. Really, you should only use the manufacturer's recommended cleaning solution with this product, or else you're in for a really big mess. It probably smells better than whatever you're trying to clean up anyway.
