After owning Eurekas for over 30 years, I decided to try this Bissell when my latest Eureka died. I did quite a bit of research and liked many of the features for this machine. I also liked the pricetag of $99.99. The main selling point for me was the "extra long power cord". I live in a medium-small apartment and the cord on my last two Eurekas was just about 3 feet too short. The cord on this Bissell is at least 5 feet SHORTER than that. The suction is fine; as you'd expect from any brand new vacuum but the dust cup is quite small and needed to be emptied several times (like, 5 or 6) while I was vacuuming my apartment. With my old Eureka, I just emptied it when I was finished with the job. We do have three cats that contribute to the problem. My favorite thing about this Bissell is the handle on the hose. It detaches very easily and the extension wand is handy and clicks in place.

I'd say, if you don't have pets and you don't mind changing outlets mid-job and dumping the dust cup at least once every room, then you might like this vacuum cleaner. I think when I buy my next vacuum cleaner, I'll go back to the Eurekas.

UPDATE: After 3 weeks of using this machine, I hate, hate, HATE it!!! I would like to change it's rating to a 1/2 star because it is a pretty color. That's the best thing about this vacuum. Pushing this thing around is like pushing a car with 4 flat tires. Dumping the filter cup multiple times each time I use it, changing outlets in the middle of the job (a small apartment)and thoroughly washing the foam filter and cylindrical filter after every single use adding another 15 minutes to a chore that I dislike. If you think you want one of these vacuums, you can have mine!!

Good power; light weight; tools very good; washable filters; I am very impressed with the value of this unit, and was completely grossed-out by what I saw in the filter; the point being, it stayed in the filter! I have been using vacuum cleaners for over 30 years, and find this one to be an excellent value, and very easy to use.

This is a great vacuum. I don't have much carpet, but after seeing how much I picked up on the rug I vacuumed the whole house on the bare floor setting. The hose is also super easy to use and great for getting the hair in the tight spaces between the kitchen table and chair legs. I have two large dogs and keeping my floors clean is so much easier. Also, the visual reminder of how much I'm collecting is a real incentive to vacuum more frequently.

This is one great vacuum! We have a long-haired dog ... every time I use this machine ... well, you would think I hadn't vacuumed in a year ... it is a dirt magnet!

The only down side is that the HEPA side filter is a bit pricey.

Want a clean house? This may be the last vacuum you'd ever want to use!

This is by far the best vacuum I have ever had. Picks up the cat and dog fur, and the dirt deep inside my carpets. You would have thought I never vacuumed for years. The vacuum I had before this was a Kirby, Save your money buy the Helix you won't be disappointed.

Honestly, I feel like I wasted $100. It's pretty, but that's about it. Very cumbersome and heavy to push around. The cord is a lot shorter than others I've had and I do have to plug it into a different outlet mid-stream. Okay suction, but cup does fill up super-fast. Very sorry I bought this.

UPDATE-May 14, 2011 - This 9-month old vaccuum died today. PIECE OF JUNK! It has been used very lightly, cleaned very often, and overall well-cared for. I am soooo sorry that I bought this.

UPDATE-May 22, 2011 - I am now shopping for a new vac. Thought I had a Squaretrade coverage on this Bissell, but I guess I don't. I wish I could give this Bissell a negative rating - I dislike it that much! NEVER AGAIN!

I previously had a Dyson. Forgot the exact model #, but it was the purple one for pet hair. I wanted something reliable and that is good with suction, as I have 5 kids that do their share of spilling and dumping and eating and so on. I ordered this vacuum from Amazon Thursday. My Dyson had died, so I REALLY needed a good replacement! It arrived Saturday. I love Amazon Prime, but as soon as it arrived, I tore it open and put it together which took all of about 5 minutes. I vacuumed right away. I didn't think the floors were all that dirty. They are only a few months old too. I vacuumed all the rooms on the medium setting. The suction was great and loved everything about the machine! I finished, then opened the cup to empty it. It was truly disgusting! I never, ever had even half of the amount from my Dyson!! This vacuum is a winner with me and I hope it serves me longer than my Dyson did which was 6 years.

This is a great vaccum, it picks up excellent and does not put any odors in the air. The attachment for the furniture is a very good addtion. You never have to buy bags again.

After researching & reviewing many vacuums, I decided on the Bissell 21K3. I'm a cat owner & needed something powerful enough to pick up pet hair but without the ridiculous expense. The Bissell was a very good price & was highly rated. Upon receiving my vacuum, I immediately put it together, (took me 5mins) & then I tried it out. I was a bit nervous after reading a couple of reviews where people stated they received a strong, static shock while vacuuming. I have yet to experience this & have vacuumed numerous times. I love this vacuum! It picks up every bit of pet hair & the upholstery attatchment is great! This vaccum works very well on bare floors as well! I use it in my kitchen & bathroom. Canister disposal is very easy! It is not self-propelled & can be a bit tough to push at times but other than that, I highly recommend it!

We did alot of research before deciding to buy this vacuum. The high ratings and pricetag for this machine were very appealing. Most of the comments in the reviews are true. This vacuum does an excellent job. It is light enough to lug up and down the stairs. It picks up everything. The attachment is nice. So . . . why the 1/5 star rating?

The dust collection/filter system is a royal pain. We don't mind getting our hands dirty, but this is ridiculous. The collection canister fills very quickly (i.e. it's too small or we're too dirty). Also, the dust and debris collect around the vertical fan thing above the collection canister. So, you have to reach up there every time to peal the garbage off of it that wraps around it, namely hair. Then, the filter below the collection canister has to be cleaned because it clogs easily. It's a black ring-sponge-type filter. Again, the dust and debris has to be picked off of it. It gets rinsed under the faucet and then you have to wait for it to dry, usually a day or two. All this after only finishing the vacuuming in half the house. Maybe this is the norm for a bagless vacuum, but it sure seems quite ridiculous. If you don't mind all that nonsense and you are concerned about the trees and not your lungs, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd recommend you steer clear of this product.
