Product Description

Bissell Trilogy Pet, 81M9-1: The Bissell Trilogy Pet Vacuum offers 3 ways to clean OxyPro Pet Carpet Spot & Stain Remover stores on board to spot clean when you vacuum, and the conveniently located brush roll on/off switch allows you to vacuum either carpets or hard floors at the flip of a switch. This 12 amp upright bagless vacuum, with a 15-inch cleaning path, 6X Cyclonic System, and complete set of onboard tools, provides a powerful clean.

Vacuuming is the time when spots and stains are noticed on your carpet. With a convenient holster for a Bissell OxyPro Pet Carpet Spot & Stain Remover, you can quickly treat a spot or stain when you are vacuuming. Simply treat the spot or stain according to the directions on the can. Let the OxyPro Pet work its magic vacuuming when dry. OxyPro Pet Carpet Spot & Stain Remover removes tough set in stains all the way to the backing, such as urine, feces, blood, vomit, and tracked in mud. OxyPro Pet is safe for all carpet types, including wool, nylon, acrylic and stain resistant carpet. Leaves carpet safe for children and pets when used as directed.

Cyclonic separation keeps filters cleaner, longer, for superior suction power. With cyclonic cleaning, more dirt stays in the dirt container versus going to the filters. As filters clog, suction is reduced and cleaning performance drops. Therefore, by keeping filters clean longer, overall cleaning performance is improved.

The Bissell Trilogy Pet also comes with onboard pet tools for effective pet clean-up. The Pet TurboBrush Tool is great for cleaning stairs and upholstery, and the Pet Contour Tool pulls out hair and dirt from hard to reach areas.

Of all 3 vacuums I currently own, the Bissell Trilogy Bagless is BY FAR the best performing unit. I am comparing it to both my Dyson Root 8 Cyclone and my lower end Dirt Devil Power Reach Pet. (surprisingly, the Dirt Devil power reach vac at under $100 bucks was my "go to" vacuum as it just worked better than the Dyson overall)

SO is this Bissell as good as the much more expensive Dyson? Can it really stand up? Being the sole cleaner in my household I am going to give you my honest appraisal so please read on!

First of all, the Bissell's sheer suction power visibly removes more dirt and debris with much less work. The Dyson requires going over and over a section as much as 3 or 4 times to do what the Bissell will accomplish in 1 or two passes at the very most. This is quite impressive considering the Dyson costs more than 3 times the price of this Bissell Trilogy. Getting rid of the dirt is very simple with their "easy empty" dirt cup. Parts come off and snap back with authority. No worries about it falling apart in the process. As with most bagless vacuums, you DO need to periodically clean the filter but that too is easy with no degree in rocket science required.

The Trilogy is built very well as far as plastic vacuums go. It feels solid, not wobbly and has a comforting engine roar that while loud, sounds smooth and powerful. (and it IS) The attachments are very good. They attach easily (unlike my Dyson which has broken twice just using and removing the attachments) Both the Turbo Brush and Contour Tool are useful and fully functional. I tried the Turbo on a sofa and the results were fantastic. The attachment hose is built well and works perfectly. I can not comment on the spray cleaner that is included as I avoid using chemicals when I clean.

I ordered this vacuum from a reward site that we have at work after my old vacuum died. I had previously owned a bissell in our old house that we rented and it worked fine for the size but when we bought our new home it just couldn't keep up with more than double the square footage of the house. I have 3 dogs, 2 of which are heavy shedders and this picks up the hair from everywhere. When I finally got this vacuum, my old one had been dead for about a month so my carpet was in desperate need of some TLC and this was just the thing. It managed to get all the hair up without hoses clogging which had been a big issue with the old vacuum. I did have to empty the container several times however this is probably mostly to do with how long it had been since the floors were done. Since then I only have to empty the container once for the larger rooms and once for all the smaller rooms combined. The attachments make it very easy to get hair off of the furniture though you have to have the vacuum itself turned just right to get a good angle. Over all I am extremely happy with my purchase. I have had the vacuum now for about a month and would definately recommend it to other pet owners.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
There really isn't much about this product I don't like. I have been using a Dirt Devil equivalent pet hair product that I enjoy using a lot, but there are a coupe of things that make this product just a bit superior. First there is the button that turns the brush on and off which is a must when you are dealing with a surface that will scratch. The button is right next to the power button and is easy to flip on and off. I was a little concerned because the button seemed to stop work on me after I accidentally sucked up something I shouldn't have. It seems fine now and could have something to do with the vacuum not using brushes when it is fully upright. The plus from the experience is removing the brush and the belt was pretty easy.

Fun Gadgets come with this vacuum, and not only do they work as advertised, the soft rubbery edges keeps you from damaging surfaces and the spot remover works. The nicest bonus for this model is it holds all the accessories firmly so they're not falling off all over the place like my Dirt Devil does. The spot remover, because of the nozzle, penetrates the carpet pretty deeply and removed evidence of my cat's hairball issues. I find the vacuum easy to lift and move, and there are plenty of simple instructions on the unit itself so you can move, remove and empty things without consulting the the manual.

Finally, removing the canister emptying it and accessing the filter was easy.

As for cons, there are only two things I dislike about the product. One is the holder for the spot remover is perfect for the product that comes with it... and nothing else. I wish they could have made that piece a little more universal. I don't even know a store that carries this rounded spot remover can. The second is the handle.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
UPDATE May '12: Previously this was a 4 star review, I just had to knock it down to 3 because of the construction and durability. While carrying this up and down the stairs, part of the handle snapped from the body. I was using the handle made to carry this(further down from the handle used to push and maneuver), so I was shocked when I heard the cracking noise. It still works, but the top is loosely dangling unless pushed down and handled gently. Now I've gorilla taped it, though that just doesn't fix the issue of quality -- this should be meant to carry from floor to floor. I loved this vac and am really disappointed in the cheap plastic construction.

Original review:
I'm a known vacuum junkie, this is one of three currently in rotation! My favorite is the LG Kompressor® Drive Pet Care Vacuum LuV350P, but this one is holding it's own. I have 2 cats and a dog with hardwood floors throughout. With these 3 and my cat allergies, I tend to vacuum at least 3 times a week. I like to take a quick spin around, and always use the tools to get in the tight spots and under furniture. Here are a few things I don't love...
Cons:
1. The wand tool is very short, so I'm stooping over a lot, even if I'm just doing a corner. I would love it to be longer so I can stand upright while getting the areas the vacuum doesn't fit.
2. The wheels are huge, so they end up picking up stuff that sticks to them and forget about going underneath anything!
3. It's very heavy, so I won't be using this one on the stairs. On top of that, I like a good handle on the body of the machine and this one was awkward to use.
