Product Description

Bissell Trilogy, 81M9 The Bissell Trilogy Vacuum offers 3 ways to clean OxyPro Carpet Spot & Stain Remover stores on board to spot clean when you vacuum, and the conveniently located brush roll on/off switch allows you to vacuum either carpets or hard floors at the flip of a switch. This 12 amp upright bagless vacuum, with a 15-inch cleaning path, 6X Cyclonic System, and complete set of onboard tools, provides a powerful clean. Vacuuming is the time when spots and stains are noticed on your carpet. With a convenient holster for a Bissell OxyPro Carpet Spot & Stain Remover, you can quickly treat a spot or stain when you are vacuuming. Simply treat the spot or stain according to the directions on the can. Let the OxyPro work its magicvacuuming when dry. OxyPro Carpet Spot & Stain Remover removes tough set in stains all the way to the backing, such as red wine, cola, coffee/tea, fruit juice, and gravy. OxyPro is safe for all carpet types, including wool, nylon, acrylic and stain resistant carpet. Leaves carpet safe for children and pets when used as directed. Cyclonic separation keeps filters cleaner, longer, for superior suction power. With cyclonic cleaning, more dirt stays in the dirt container versus going to the filters. As filters clog, suction is reduced and cleaning performance drops. Therefore, by keeping filters clean longer, overall cleaning performance is improved.

If I have to say one bad thing...it is a little heavy.

On top of that, the cord hook is sized just a bit too big, so the hook doesn't hold the cord in place very well while you're using it.

It's one of the best vacuum tools I own, it will vacuum up hairs and anything else that defies normal vacuuming.

First off, there weren't any reviews...I decided to wing it after getting a headache reading reviews on the Shark navigator, Hoover t-series rewind Uh70210, and the bissell prolite, which I actually owned before this weekend and sucking up a sheet that killed the brush motor (prolite).

I was able to put hands on all three before I settled for the Bissell Triology. I will review triology after I explain why I didn't buy the other three.

The shark navigator : Shark Navigator Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, NV22L major complaints were that it tipped over very easily, a small cleaning path, no edge cleaning, also their customer service seemed to be horrible, lifetime filter get so dirty doesn't seem to last very long,

Why I might buy a shark: extension range with attachments, the small cleaning path would be good for tight spaces.

Bissell prolite: BISSELL PROlite Multi-Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 17G5complaints seemed to consist of poor connection issues with hose and attchements. The extra arm constantly falls off during cleaning, wheels run funny on hard surfaces, Cord length being 25 ft., no washable Hepa filter, no inboard attachments, automatic height adjustment??? Can't figure out how it adjusts...never felt the difference.

Why I owned a Bissell prolite: light and quiet, good suction, easy to clean.

Hoover rewind T-series UH70210:

This Bissell Trilogy Bagless Upright Vacuum is fairly powerful and works well in the high traffic areas of our small business. We have used bagless vacuums before and like the convenience, but often found them to be underpowered, but have been impressed with this one from the get go.

Pros -
+ Easy To Assemble; took less than 15-minutes (requires long Philips Head screwdriver, not included)
+ Powerful; very good suction
+ Rugs and Hard Floors; has a switch to disable brushes for use on hardwood or tile floors
+ Turbo "Pet" Brush and Wands; these attach to the hose and add versatility
+ Easy To Access Filters; good design makes getting to the three filters quick and easy (see video)

Cons -
- Size; this is a heavy vacuum and my wife has to work at moving it around

Misc -
+ Holder; used for Bissell BISSELL OxyPro Carpet Spot and Stain Remover, 14 ounces, 13A2 (included), not to be used as a cup holder (it WILL spill when handle is tilted :)

Overall, I am very pleased with the ease of use and performance of this vacuum!

Highly Recommended!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This Bissell bagless upright seems to work as good as my bagless Dyson DC07 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner, which has a list price more than twice that of the Bissell 81M9. (BTW, at present, Amazon's list and selling prices for the 81M9 are both higher than Bissell's list and selling prices; see the Bissell site to compare.) There are differences between the Dyson and Bissell that could justify the difference in cost, but performance-wise, in carpeted rooms and bare floors (I don't have stairs so can't comment on that), I don't see a significant difference. Both are 12-amp. The Bissell has a 15-inch cleaning path, the Dyson's cleaning path is 14 inches; a wider cleaning path can make maneuverability more difficult in tight spaces as when there is a lot of furniture to vacuum around and under, etc. The Dyson has a certified asthma-friendly HEPA filtration system that is supposed to last the lifetime of the machine; the Bissell's pre-motor and post-motor filters are not "serious" HEPA type filters and they will definitely need to be replaced more than once during the Bissell's lifetime; as one can see at Bissell's site, the replacement cost seems reasonable, though sometimes getting replacement parts for a vacuum cleaner (or just about anything) can be more hassle than it's worth - especially after a manufacturer has discontinued the model for which you require parts...

The Dyson has a more rugged build - it is made of the same material used in crash helmets - but there doesn't appear to be anything wanting about the Bissell's build. They weigh about the same (going by feel; according to specs the Dyson is heavier by around 4 pounds). The Bissell's power cord is 30 ft.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
After testing this vacuum in my elderly house that consists of small rooms with small-ish area rugs and many, many stairs, I feel that this model is much better suited to a more modern house with wider expanses and fewer changes between surfaces. When moving between rugs and hard surfaces, it's necessary to turn the brush on and off. This is easy to do with a switch located right next to the power switch. But, for optimal performance, it's also necessary to change the height of the brush to accommodate different types of rugs and carpets. The correct setting is mostly a guessing game, and the dial, which is a little hard to turn, is near the floor, requiring the user to kneel or bend down. For the stairs, the hose doesn't reach far enough to clean half of them from the bottom and the other half from the top. Also, there really isn't a proper tool provided for stairs. The dusting brush has bristles that are too long and flexible for good pick up. What would be good is a small tool with no bristles, and I found one from a bygone vacuum that worked. There is no edge cleaning, which would have been nice on the couple of rooms we have with wall-to-wall carpeting. When I removed the dust cup to empty it, dust continued to float down from the upper tank onto the vacuum and the surrounding floor.

The good: The vacuum covers a wider swath than some (about 13", plus the wheels and housing), and the cover over the brush is clear, so it would be easy to spot something tangled onto the brush. The cleaning suction, both through the brush and through the extension tools is great. The on-board spot spray worked very well on some drips I found on a rug, but the idea of spot cleaning and vacuuming at the same time isn't quite logical; the spray doesn't dry fast enough to come right back and vacuum the same spot.
