My experiences with multiple qms-minolta printers has been less-than-favorable.

I am still trying to live down the embarassment of ever buying 2 of the minolta-qms Pagepro 9100 printers for our company.

It was the same principal the inkjets makers use now:

-keep printer prices low as possible,

so you can undercut the more established players [like HP]

-make your money on the back-end, via consumables.

pagepro 9100 cartridges had 3 problems:

-pricier than more mainstream printer cartridges

-smart-chips prevented refilling by average joe consumer

-sometimes brand new [NOT oem/refurbed] cartridges were DOA,

or became so after a short run/use* [*=their toner was all over the background of the page,making any prints unusable].

At an average of about $150 each, you CANNOT afford to have anything but 100%, perfect working toners.

We bought 2 of the pagepro 9100 printers, brand new.

-one is pretty much "parts" for the other.

Never again.
