5.0 out of 5 stars Teapuhoo dvd
I have purchased quite a few surfing dvds lately and all I can say is, this dvd is one of the best surf dvds I've seen in years! First of all, if you are not familiar with Teapuhoo, this will expose you to a break that is hard to wrap your mind around. The footage is great and the extras are great too.

This is a very unusual place mainly due to the placement...

A good video of one surf spot. They tell a good story of this previously unknown wave. Would have liked to have seen more surf footage and less of the interviews. Otherwise a good video.

I have purchased quite a few surfing dvds lately and all I can say is, this dvd is one of the best surf dvds I've seen in years! First of all, if you are not familiar with Teapuhoo, this will expose you to a break that is hard to wrap your mind around. The footage is great and the extras are great too.

This is a very unusual place mainly due to the placement of the reef and it's shape. The reef is curved and the waves break around it. If you catch it when it's breaking big and you are just outside of the break, they say it's as if you are looking down a 5 story building! The bottom of the wave is below sea level and the reef holds up so much water, it almost acts as a dam, where it is below sea level in front of the wave and at the top and backside of the wave it's another level stories high! You really need to see this to believe it!

I have purchased the book called "Teapuhoo, Tahiti's mythic wave" and it helps tell the story in the photographs. I also spent almost $200 (the most I've ever spent on a framed photo)for a print that shows the energy that is created. This shows a large wave with the front side of the wave where the face is flat....as in VERTICAL, because of the upward energy caused by the surf and the reef! I just had to have a picture of it, because it doesn't look possible!

There is a Blackwater 2, but I haven't seen that yet, but hope to soon. I don't know if the first Blackwater can be improved on, but who knows?
