There is an LED flashlight in the handle that points to the ground as you walk for safety. The LED fiber optic stem is of sturdy construction and flashes a myriad of colors or you can set it to just display one color at a time. These were first seen in the futuristic thriller "BladeRunner" back in the early 1980's, but are just trending now.

The battery holder plastic seems a little fragile, but otherwise a fun umbrella to have.
