2.0 out of 5 stars Not accurate and cheaply made, January 12, 2012
This review is from: BLEACH ANIME Sougyo No Kotowari Ukitake Juushirou Sword (Misc.)
I ordered this item from a local sword store's magazine to save on shipping (yes, I'm sure it's the exact same thing), but after I picked it up I realized that this is not Captain Ukitake's Zanpakuto. First off, the Habaki (or the extended gold blade collars) are of extremely low quality. The habaki are oval in shape, but the blade obviously isn't. It makes the swords look like a couple of tongue depressor sticks coming out of empty toilet paper rolls. Also, the habaki seem to be made out of aluminum foil because they dent, bend, and break easily if you don't treat them like they're made out of paper. Secondly, the tsubas (or hand guards) don't come remotely close to what is drawn in the manga or anime (it bothered me, but I knew I could get used to it). The real tsuba design has nothing to do with what these replicas show. Third, the charms aren't connected with a golden chain, but with a red rope (another thing I was willing to overlook). Overall I guess it's alright for a display piece, but the combination of not being loyal to the original design of Bleach and being made of such poor quality materials is just intolerable. If you buy this replica, don't expect to swing it around more than a few times before a part of the sword gets damaged or completely falls off. I'd only recommend this if you want an interesting (but inaccurate and cheap) display piece.
