English Madness,
By Debby Hunt (Bountuful, Utah) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bledding Sorrow (Hardcover)
Bledding Sorrow is a story about a family in England named Bledding. Madness is a trait in their family. In the 1970's, their stately English home has to be used for a tourist attraction because they have run out of money. The owner is beset by a crazy wife and blunt servants....Mavis Bonebrake is the cook for the manor, and she is crude, unrefined and un abashed. The old nanny, Caldy Moore, feels sorry for the owner's wife but is too afraid to help her. Geoffrey Bledding tries to keep his wife a secret from visitors, but a hired coachman discovers her and draws her out of her madness. They try to escape, but meet the same fate as a previous Bledding ancestor - very riveting, sadly tragic, old English family and funny at points. One of the best books I've ever read!

Ms. Harris has a wonderful way with words. The way she can describe a passage in the story you would think you were there. This book has a great love story but she shows how history can sometimes tragicly repeats itself.
