This review is ideal for medical students & residents who are looking for the ultimate board review book for the internal medicine components of the USMLE STEPS 2 & 3. Students who are preparing for these exams and are thinking about a residency in medicine, as well as current internal medicine residents will also be way ahead of the game when it comes time to sit for the medicine boards, that one last boards we take in your third year of medicine residency. This book is concise, thorough, and fully-outlined, so you will clearly see the relationship between all the key concepts you ll have to know and what you ll need to know. It also features tons of great mnemonics you ll thank your lucky stars for. Speaking of stars, we know you ll appreciate our ample use of formatting, to help direct your attention to particularly important material and/or common or recurring themes. You should know that this book is an excellent companion to the FRONTRUNNERS 2008 INTERNAL MEDICINE Q&A REVIEW, which features over 1300 Q&A with explanations to prepare you for battle. If you re a mnemonics fan (and who isn t?), and you like the ones here, then you ll definitely want to check out TURBO MNEMONICS FOR THE BOARDS 2008, featuring over 400 MEMORY AIDS to the Most Commonly Asked Material on the USMLE Clinical Steps & Medicine Boards. You ll find these and other invaluable resources on the very last page of this book, the "Quick Order Form". Even if you re not prepping for the boards, these resources comprise the best no-nonsense review of internal medicine you ll find anywhere. It s our job to ensure nothing comes close. Founded in the same tradition of excellence of our popular Internal Medicine Board Review Course, Nail the Boards remains today much of the same core material for our board review course, which has seen unparalleled pass rates among its students. The course has been widely and enthusiastically received for its unconventional, no-nonsense approach to the review of internal medicine. Unfortunately, thousands of physicians, wanting to pass their boards, are simply unable to attend a formal board review course due to time or geographic constraints. For those physicians especially, this book will be a welcome review, and is ideal for the internal medicine components of the USMLE Steps 2 & 3. This book is completely outlined, so that the relationship between concepts is crystal clear no more guessing! You ll also find tons of key mnemonics you ll definitely be using on your exam, along with contributive formatting through the efficient use of bolds, underlining, italics, boxed-in points, truly an outstanding way to capitalize on those last few hours before your exam. A thorough and realistically designed Index section, makes those last-minute look-ups a cinch! From the outlined presentation, every aspect of this book has been designed with quick assimilation and excellence in mind. We want to share that excellence with you, because if you ve read this far, your standards are ultra-high like ours. Frontrunners' motto, "When all you wanna know is what you GOTTA know !" reflects our realistic "this-is-what-you-have-to-know" philosophy toward medicine that has consistently churned out top national pass rates among its students from year to year on the medicine. We also passionately hold to the philosophy that, "Hey, if you know an easier way to board review, why not share it with others?" Now in its fifth edition, Nail the Boards has met with tremendous success, but that success has only come about through your successes on the boards. Whether it s board review or self-assessment, take these books; learn them; and excel.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This CONCISE, thorough, and one-of-a-kind resource summarizes ALL OF INTERNAL MEDICINE for the USMLE Steps 2 & 3. Notwithstanding, it doubles as a wonderful, concise desk reference for the busy internist. This unmatched resource is loaded with excellent mnemonics (though nowhere near Turbo Mnemonics for the Boards, which features the full list of 400 memory aids for the boards) that popular among students. It's easy-to-read, completely outlined, and fully-indexed format will make your review a true pleasure so you can really nail the boards! --

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank God I Found This Book !, February 6, 2001
I am a physician in private practice and have been looking for a solid review of internal medicine for the boards for years. I've been disappointed over and over, and then I ran across this treasure chest!! I learned that the author is also director and continue to be the chief instructor for one of the leading board review establishments in the country, Frontrunners Board Review, Inc., based in New York, so I thought I'd give it a try. It turned out to be one of the smartest career moves I've made since joining my practice! I understand that the book is based on the syllabus for the Frontrunners board review course, so I kind of imagine the course flew to me instead of vice versa, a real convenience! The book is clearly laid out, subject by subject, and its outlined format helped me to see the relationships between key concepts much more clearly than with any other board review book I've had the misfortune of buying. The clever use of mnemonics throughout and appropriate useage of underlining, bolds, italics, boxed-in points, and bullets clearly drew my attention to the most important points for the boards. And when I took my exam, it was all there! No surprises!! Needless to say, I aced my exam, and have since referred it to 2 of my partners who have gone on to "nail" their boards. The book continues to be an important resource in our office. Everything can be found in the Index section so whenever I want to look up some info quickly between patients, it's so simple to use. We use it so often to look up key information on medicine that none of the 3 of us are content to share a single book. Each of us hoards our own copy, and in fact we had to buy a separate copy for the nurses and physician assistants who kept asking for our copies! So, thanks to this educational treasure cove, our entire office is now full of board-certified staff. What's more, our patient volume has increased considerably since we are now listed as "board-certified" in the physician directories, and patients generally would rather choose a boarded physician over a non-boarded physician, all other things being equal. AND (my favorite) all the HMOs are finally off our back, so our day-to-day lives are so much easier. Finally, on a personal level, I know my confidence as a health care provider is so much higher now. I have a greater sense of pride in my work, and--I have to admit--definitely am providing a higher quality of care than I ever had before. I would definitely recommend this book to any health care provider looking for a top-notch review of internal medicine, whether or not they're studying for any of the medical board exams! 5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT RESOURCE. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDING., September 20, 2004
I'm definitely recommending Nail the Boards for the USMLE Step 3 since this was the only book I used to prepare(along with Frontrunners 2004 Internal Medicine Q&A) and I nailed all the medicine questions. This book was a huge part of my success on the exam. A must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars THANK MY LUCKY 'STARS'..., October 7, 2003
I TRULY want to 'thank my lucky stars'. I went thru all the starred items in the book, which are all the most commonly-asked material on the boards, then went thru everything in detail, and finally reviewed the starred items only 2 days before the exam and scored 98%ile on my USMLE 3. I got TONS of questions just from those starred items. So, truly, I'm thanking my lucky stars. The 2nd & 3rd year residents are using it for ther medicine boards curriculum as part of our in-house board review. I guess I'll be ahead of the game. Anyway, I'm giving it a HUGE RECOMMEND.
