Front tire tubes NOT replaceable!
on January 22, 2015
After many, MANY hours of research, I decided on the BOB Motion as my primary stroller. It is a wonderful stroller and I adore almost everything about it-- cushy ride, easy to fold, doesn't tip, durable. However, as I put it together, I realized that the front tires will not come off the rims to replace the tube.
I contacted the company to make sure I wasn't mistaken. Their response? Too bad, deal with it. Thanks, Britax. If you get a flat, you must replace the entire front wheel assembly for $29 plus shipping. This is ridiculous! Does Britax really think you won't need to replace a tube on a $280-350 stroller rated to carry 65 lbs? My child could conceivably use this stroller until he is 5-6 years old.
I knew when I bought it that the tires were pneumatic, and planned to mitigate the risk of flats (from the numerous goats head thorns here) by keeping extra tubes on hand, adding a thorn-resistant liner to each tire, and having them foamed if I must. Now I'll just have to pray I don't get a flat and never buy a BOB/Britax stroller again.
