Product Description

"A blade born in the field." This is the description Lance Abernathy from Sniper Bladeworks gives this new creation. This massive folder is pure strength. The extraordinary design might look strange at first glance, but as soon as you put it in your hand, every single notch and radius immediately makes sense, providing the hand with extremely well thought ergonomics in every grip position. The broad blade allows most types of cutting chores, whether it's hunting, outdoor or tactical use. The large index finger choil allows choking up on the handle for delicate cutting tasks and with the tip of your index finger on the blade tip, the knife feels perfect in your hand. The 440C stainless steel blade is slightly angled, increasing the effectiveness of pulling cuts and slash cuts. Blade length: 3 3/4". Overall length: 8 7/8". Weight: 9.1 oz.

This offering from Boker Plus is a win in a big way. I've owned and played with my fair share of Striders, Sebenzas, Hinderers, Customs and the likes, as well as having owned countless spyderco's and benchmades. I personally bought this knife as a stop gap until I had the funds to get a real Sniper Bladeworks DMF. I wasn't sure I would like the handle shape, so i decided to spend around $625 less than the real deal to find out. (That would have been a costly mistake if I hated it.)

Lets start with the steel. 440c is a good steel. It's not great like other knives in this price range (154cm, vg10, s30v, etc), but its also much, much bigger. It's so big that i can open the knife, and put the entire (closed) Bencmade 707 on just the blade. It comes hair shaving sharp (both ways), and even though it has a thick bladestock, it tapers down to a very nice, fine edge that should be easy enough to sharpen. The gimping doesn't do too much, and the thumb stud needed to be loctited on, but the handle is shaped in a way where gimping doesn't really make a difference. Mine has some blade play side to side (I can live with it because of how smooth it is to open), and slight lock rock if you're not choked up on the blade using the finger choil (which is fantastic I might add). After the break in period, the knife is almost as smooth as a flamed, tiger stripe lego sng. The g10 is nice and grippy, and the Ti lock side is freaking huge and thick.

This is a surprising good knife for the money and if there was a downside it would have to be the size and weight relative to your average pocket tactical folder. Fortunately I like heavy knives made to take a beating. An excellent choice for when a blade is all you can have with you. Built like a tank and the kukri-esque angle coupled with the spear blade design would lend itself well for not only a cutting stroke but also for a piercing thrust. Also focuses a significant amount of force into the tip when cutting deliberately and precisely. I'm not big on the aft side being just metal but I'll take it for all the positives. Very well made, recommended.

This is my initial review of this knife. I have just received it and the first thing that comes to mind is it's a HUGE folder. It is much, much bigger than I expected (I uploaded 2 pix to give a sense of proportion). However, I own several Boker knives and really enjoy their functionality, durability and designs and my initial inspection of this knife lends itself to living up to the expectations.

The drop point blade is very functional and extremely thick. Definitely built for a hard life. The off-clip side covering (don't remember the material) provides an excellent grip. The opening action is smooth and tight and the frame lock works extremely well. The blade has no wiggle at all.

Cons
1. I wish the covering was on both sides. I can understand why it's not, but hey, this is my wish list.

2. When opening the knife with the right hand, using the peg causes the nipple in the frame lock the really dig into the blade making the initial open very difficult. If you have large hands, the effect is compounded because your fingers are on the frame lock which causes it to bite more. Altering hand places fixes the issue, but it's strange at first. Opening left handed works as long as your palm isn't pushing against the frame lock.

3. It's HUGE.

Pros
1. Built like a brick.

2. Great ergonomics.

3. Good Blade quality.

4. Good weight for the size.

5. It's HUGE.

I like the design and feel of this knife, the fit and finish are good and the blade came semi sharp, it is a very heavy, wide, thick knife.
I cant find anything negative to say about this knife. I highly recommend this knife.
