When best friends Kayo and Rosie heard their school was the latest target in a string of school vandalisms, they never imagined Rosie's dog, Bone Breath, would be instrumental in capturing the vandals. The brave little terrier not only plays a part in the vandals' capture, but also single-handedly saves Rosie from a grisly death in the grinders of a garbage truck. Although a few frightening scenes may prove too scary for sensitive readers, Kehret delivers some likable characters and a thrilling plot that won't disappoint suspense fans. Lauren Peterson

More About the Author

I've published 45 books; all but two are for children. I wrote magazine articles, short stories, and plays for many years before I discovered that what I like best is to write books for kids.
When I was twelve, I was paralyzed with polio. I made almost a full recovery but I remember that time of my life so clearly that it's easy for me to write from the viewpoint of a twelve or thirteen-year-old.
I'm always thrilled when one of my books wins a state young reader award, because I know those awards are voted on by children.
I am a widow who was married for 48 years. I have two grown children and four grandchildren. I live on a small wildlife sanctuary near Mt. Rainier National Park and I often have deer and elk in my yard.

My aunt gave me this book when I was in the hospital. Bless her heart, I loved it. Bone Breath is a dog. His owner Rosie and her friend Kayo's school is being tormented by vandels. I don't want to blow it for ya, but this is a great book for kids looking for a thrill.
