This is a great starter book for pet owners of Border Terriers. Actually it is the only one I've been able to find which is strange given how popular they are in the movies and television. I currently have a wonderful Border Terrier. I purchased this book after stumbling across it at the book store after a year owning my BT. Given my year of experience, I can say that author was right on the money about this breed. The author covers many pratical aspects of the breed and puts it out there for the reader without boring you with too much needless information. If you planning on adding a BT to your family, this book will point you in the right direction.

I found this book to be a helpful, basic guide about Border Terriers. It's nicely illustrated with color photographs. It's not real preachy, and would appeal to any border terrier owner. Good grooming tips and a helpful health section on care and identifying potential problems. The author seems to genuinely love the breed and seems "spot-on" regarding the breed's behavior characteristics.

I was brought to this book by a friend, a breeder who has determined this to be the Border book she will recommend to her potential puppy owners. This book provides some information to the reader about the origin of the Border Terrier and gives an overview of the Border's look and personality, however the voice of the author I found less than stimulating and I got bored with it very quickly. Not a bad addition to my "Border Terrier library" but if one was only going to have a single Border Terrier book, I think I would recommend "Border Terriers" by Frank and Jean Jackson or "The Border Terrier" by David VanGordon Kline and Patricia Bennett Hoffman.
