Bore Snake for Air Gun - Neat,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BORE SNAKE AIRGN BORE CLNR .177 (Misc.)
This Bore Snake has a sort of nylon brush in the center rather then the brass on used on fire arms. It does a great job and much easer to use then cleaning pellets. No chance of scratching the barrel, works much better then a rod.
Air Gun barrels are made of a softer metal then Fire Arms so using a conventional boar snake is not a good idea for air guns. This is a great solution. I also use this in my .22 air rifle as it seems to do a good job with them also.

Just what I needed,

Works perfect on my Gamo Whisper. Takes a little shake to get down past the baffles, but cleans it up in moments. I had some other cleaning equipment but I put them away after trying this. No worries about damaging the rifle when I use the .177 air rifle boresnake.

I shoot between 200 and 1000 pellets a week and cleaning my Benjamin Trail NPXL and RWS Diana 54 Air King is a real chore....Until now! Three passes with this bore snake followed by a couple lightly oiled cleaning pellets and we're good to go. Sure beats the 15 cleaning pellets + 2 bore mops (each rifle) I previously used - taking 20+ minutes with the break barrel NPXL and 35+ minutes with the side lever Diana 54. Now the NPXL is completely cleaned - butt pad to muzzle - in under 10 minutes, the Diana 54 in under 15. Cleaning this bore snake is simple: hand wash, hang to dry. I don't use any soap just continuously flowing water. My only complaint about this product is that it's dark in color so you don't visually know when you've completely cleaned it. I didn't take any stars off because it doesn't really matter to me since I follow up with a couple cleaning pellets. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with my [now unneeded] bore mops. :) The copper weight is too long to fit my Crosman 1377C (or I imagine any non-break barrel handgun) so I'm considering buying another one and cutting the weight in half to fit in the breech. *Edit 02/01/2012* The string is connected to the brass cylinder by crushing the cylinder around the string. I was able to easily yank the string out. Now I use it to clean my Crosman 1377C by feeding the string through until it comes out the barrel, grab the string and pull it through. I'm ordering a second one momentarily for my air rifles (feeding the string all the way down the barrel takes too long). The brass cylinder - acting as a weight - helps immensely!
