I bought this item as a convenience tool for around the home so I expect it to sit there in its nice box most of the time. I have used it once to help fish electrical through the walls. There was an extra fire break that made it tough. I was easily able to get inside there, focus to the right distance, light it up very well with the built in lights, and wiggle my way through the tiny little hole I had to fish through. It really worked very well.

When I bought the unit it had dark specs all over it when I looked through it. I tried cleaning the end with no success at all. I sent it in for service and got it back in three weeks. No charges other than the initial shipping. I was very pleased with how ease it was to get the problem resolved.

As a side note. There is a sticker in the compartment for the batteries used to power the light. That sticker rolls over and catches the batteries making it very hard to get the batteries out. I used a pair of tweezers to reach in and remove that sticker and now the batteries slide in and out very easily.

I bought this item to use in electrical wiring/ troubleshooting and plumbing troubleshooting. I have used it to troubleshoot a chronically clogged drain, for which it worked perfectly. I have also used it to locate a drilling point and fish wires through a hole in a bottom plate in an existing outside wall for an outlet above a standard height kitchen counter. The 36" reach was a little short, but it sure beat not seeing at all. I had to use another tool, in a way it was not intended, to push back the insulation at the bottom of the wall so I could see the bottom plate. I have plans to use this product in the near future on other wiring and plumbing projects and look forward to using this tool, with its crystal clear view, to make the job easier.

I am very glad that I went with the 36" scope. I got this tool primarily for working on my cars, but have used it all around the house. Several areas that could be be improved upon are the light power, material quality, and a lens protector. I worry that over time I will bump the lens too much and scratch it up, but maybe some plastic wrap will help protect it while using. That said, I am satisfied with the ease of use and the variety of applications of this tool.
