5.0 out of 5 stars just what I needed
Boss Keyboard Tray (cherry)

Directions to assemble were vague and not clear. Very hard to put together by yourself.

Once installed, this product fits the bill perfectly. It is an exact match for my desk, seems sufficiently sturdy and rolls smoothly. The brackets are designed to give just enough clearance for the keyboard without the tray being too low and crashing into your knees all day. Width wise, I do not keep my mouse on the tray and I'm not sure there would be enough room if you like to do that.

The installation directions provided are pretty minimal. Don't bother drilling a pilot hole for your screws- at least when mounting the rails to the tray. The screws provided seem to be "self-tapping" and drilling a hole only made it feel stripped and like it wouldn't tighten down aw well as those where no drill was used. You may need a drill to attach it to your desk, depending on what your desk is made out of. You'll definitly want someone to hold the tray while you mark its position under the desk. It was not fun to do that solo. The directions also started with attaching the front edge to the tray itself but mine came pre-attached.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, Sturdy, November 4, 2008

Very solid and sturdy. It glides easily after installation. Much better than the plastic one I previously had. Installation went well as I've done this before. If you haven't, a second set of hands could be useful. All in all, a very good product although the room for the mouse on the tray is somewhat limited. However, it fits under most standard desks.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works once installed, August 27, 2010

The good news is that once installed, the keyboard tray works. I ordered this for an old desk. The cost is reasonable and the size fits well.

Installation is not easy. The sliding tracks are not pre-installed to the tray, and the tracks are slightly wider than the thickness of the tray. I would prefer flat edges on both sides so I could slightly extend the keyboard out of the tray when necessary. Unfortunately the wide tracks make the left and right edges higher than the tray surface.

The mounting bracket has several positions to adjust the clearance between the tray and the desk surface. Even using the biggest clearance, the space between the tray and the underside of the disk is still too tight. I had to replace my old keyboard with a thinner one so the tray and keyboard can slide under the desk. I also used a wireless mouse so that I can move the mouse away when retracting the tray.

I also bought a 3M Easy Adjust Keyboard Tray with Standard Platform, 17 3/4 Inch Track, Antimicrobial Gel Wrist Rest for my office. It is much nicer and easier to install/use, but 4 times more expensive.

Very pleased with it. It seems sturdy and has plenty of space. It really is best to have two people to install it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product at a great price!, June 21, 2011

I've had multiple keyboard trays before, but they've all been the plastic kind. I've had the cheapest ones and the most expensive ones. They all pale in comparison to this keyboard tray! This one is so much more sturdy than the others!

As far as the installation, my husband surprised me by putting on before I got home from work one day so I can't comment on that but he didn't complain about it all so it was probably fairly easy.

The one less-positive feature is that it's not quite wide enough to put your mouse comfortably next to the keyboard. For us, it's not a problem but if that's a major feature requirement for you, it's something to consider before buying this tray.

Since this is the same price as the cheapest plastic ones, I'd DEFINITELY recommend getting this one since it's better than the more expensive plastic ones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keyboard tray works... with a few things to be aware, April 10, 2011

I ordered this keyboard tray because I had restriction with the width and depth of the under desk clearance. The package arrived on time but the packaging was kind of crappy. Inside, the ball bearings are nicely lubricated. Veneer looks nice with minor wear and chips. All the needed parts are included.

The keyboard tray, once installed, is sturdy and looking great. Here are a few things,

1. This keyboard tray is only about 24 inch wide, there is no much space left for mouse movement, especially when you have one of those ergonomic keyboards.

2. Installation is not as difficult as some of others described in their review. The instruction sheet comes with the package is literally useless. But for Pete's sake if you cannot figure out how to put those simple parts together by yourself, I would recommend you get help from others.

This was a great tray. I loved the color, and the mechanics worked well. I've since had to move on to another that accomodated a larger wireless keyboard, but I was very happy with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, simple, hard to put together, but does the job, March 19, 2011

If you need a cheap and hard to put together keyboard tray this is fine. It's not too stable, not too reliable, but it does the job. The instructions are the worst I have ever seen. You are much better off completely ignoring them. It is amazing that any company will send something out the door without a minimal concern for helping its customers. Most furniture companies learned their lesson and they now put together simple and easy instructions. Not this one. They saved half an hour of their time and added it to each one of their customers.
