Book Description

When a photo shoot ends in tragedy, Kira discovers her best friend, Lydia, has been keeping a secret. Knowing the truth, and accepting it, will change Kira’s life forever and thrust her into a world of ancient curses, magical objects, and savage enemies. What happens next will challenge everything Kira knows about her world, herself and the shape-shifting warrior she’s falling in love with. No longer the timid mouse her mother accused her of being, but a woman who finds the mental and physical strength to endure and survive.

BOUND is a heroic tale of true friendship, infinite sacrifice and untamed love.

About the Author

Christine has always been a writer. Even before she could compose a single word with pen, she scribbled her version of cursive along the open page just to see what it looked like. As a teen, she swiped her dad's old Royal typewriter so her muse could breathe life into what her vivid imagination had created. She's spent the last twenty-five years married to the man of her dreams and raising their two sons. After helping run the family restaurant for most of their marriage, Christine has finally broken away to pursue her dream of being an author. When she's not with her family or tickling the computer keys, she loves camping, reading, scrapbooking, listening to all kinds of music, and making new friends. Christine is currently living in the middle of sage brush and lava rock with a spectacular view of the Snake River Canyon in South Central Idaho.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved it! October 20, 2011
By Idris
Format:Kindle Edition
BOUND tells us the story of Kira, a young girl like any other, with the normal problems of her age; her relationship with her mother and her stepfather, school and friends. But what Kira doesn't know is that her best friend Lydia is hiding something, and when suddenly Kira discovers the truth, she will find herself immerse in a completely different world.

When you see this book for first time, it can look like any other young adult book; A normal teenager girl who discovers a really dark secret and now she needs to adapt to that secret, which is bigger than she could have ever imagined. But that is when the story gets much better.

First, the reader will find an amazing world full of myths and incredible creatures, so well done and so well created, that it's realistic, even though it's a supernatural book. I must say that I really enjoyed the way the author told the story where all the pieces fit perfectly, so there is no loose ends, and no inconsistencies.

Second, the author did a great job creating not only the story but also the characters, characters very well developed. I really liked Kira, she is a really intelligent girl, always willing to sacrifice herself for her best friend Lydia. Lydia is so nice and so sweet, I loved the strong Altaria, and what can I say about Octavion? Even though I didn't like him too much at the beginning, I ended liking him a lot.

So, what can I say? I really enjoyed this book, from the beginning to the end. I just couldn't put it down until I had read it completely. Now I can't wait to read the next book in the series, Broken.

So guys, if you haven't read Bound yet, and if you are fan of Young Adults books with good stories, full of action, romance and supernatural topics... I recommend you to read it. You won't regret it.

Happy Reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ! October 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I am not usually a fan of Young Adult Paranormal, but this book drew me in and would not let me go, I find myself waiting IMPATIENTLY waiting for the sequel. The book is approximately 400 pages but I found myself not being able to stop reading and got nothing else done today because of it. Great first book, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay. February 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the things I enjoyed most about this book, were the easy, fun, very believable exchanges between the best friends. I'd catch myself smiling while they teased and mocked each other. I also admired their unwavering loyalty. It was what I had hoped for and expected from their relationship early on. There wasn't any cattiness or jealousy on their parts.

You meet Lydia's big brother, Octavion, early on in the story. He gives new meaning to the term "over protective". He's pushy, forceful, stubborn and abrasive. But, you also get to see his softer side. He can be gentle, caring and moved to tears. As you delve further into the story you come to understand why that is. There are good reasons for a lot of his behaviors and reactions, but oftentimes he can't get a good grasp on controlling them. He has great chemistry with Kira. There's a powerful attraction and intensity between them. Their exchanges range from tender to volatile. They have some pretty great scenes together when they're alone.

I'm not sure I ever really warmed up to Kira, even at the end. Her behavior felt inconsistent throughout the book. She starts off weak and helpless, but gradually finds her footing. As she finds confidence, self-worth and her backbone, it's refreshing, entertaining and exciting. When she begins to stand up for herself and take charge of the direction her life will take, you root for her. But, I felt like I got some whiplash as she flipped back and forth between being brave and being a coward, over and over again. I don't fault her for being afraid of different characters or situations, it was the behavior she displayed that perturbed me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings June 10, 2012
By Kati
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I won't summarize the plot as it has been done already. I will say I am not an avid fan of sci-fi or fantasy BUT I did enjoy this story until the end or lack there of. There were other issues but those issues I can overlook because the author is self-published and doesn't have the same resources as authors with book deals. These issues included a lack of character development and a storyline that was less than fluid and often left more questions than answers.

As for the ending let me say this if you want a conclusion this book will not provide even the smallest. I realize this is the intro for the next book, however, it doesn't make me want to purchase the next book in the least for fear I will have spent my precious reading time involved in a story that leaves me unsatisfied.

Good luck to the author. It is a good story but not a series I will be waiting on.

4.0 out of 5 stars BookWhisperer Reviews Bound November 29, 2011
Format:Paperback
C.K. Bryant offers a debuting series that combines mythological and supernatural elements that create a intricate and fresh world. Kira and Lydia are best friends with normal thought and concerns consistent with every other senior. Or so Kira thought until she discovered her best friend and brother are not from this world or human. Dedication and loyalty are in abundance throughout this book, and it is easy to see why these three friends are willing to risk there own lives for one another. The stage is excellently set for Kira to fit into Octavion and Lydia's world. It also make is easy to understand Kira's desperation to support and help them in there quest. Ophera was carefully crafted and easily imaginable. I had no problem seeing this world as though I was looking through the eyes of the characters. Ms. Bryant is a dedicated writer that will test your shock ability with her graphic novel. She will take her story that a cliff, and proceed without hesitation as her story drops readers from the deadly heights. I was very impressed with this novel, and the ability of this author. I definitely look forward to reading more from this series.
