Kubaton has grooves or ridges for gripping, but not indented finger slots for firmer, sure grip. "Point" is rounded. I have a different design kubaton (that I obtained in a self-defense class) that's pointed (not sharp, but pointed) and with a slotted shaft. I was unable to find a match, so I purchased five of these for my female relatives. My husband has held both kinds (each 5.5" long), and he felt they were somewhat small for a male hand. I have small hands, and they fit me perfectly. It's great self-defense protection (carry it in your hand with your car key or house key on the ring), but you can't take it on an airplane!

I just got this in the mail today and I'm pretty satisfied. It's a lot lighter than I thought it would be but that's not necessarily a pro or a con for me. It won't really add a lot to a fist-load but just gripping it feels like it would make it more powerful anyways. It feels well made, though since its just an aluminum rod that's not surprising. I'd say its well worth the $4 it cost me and I'd say it would get the job done if it ever comes down to it. Its not quite as pointy as some of the other kubotans out there, but the color and shape of this one don't make it look nearly as much like a weapon as some of the others, which can be a plus.
