5.0 out of 5 stars Not much you can say about such a basic mylar sheet
An essential and very inexpensive emergency item for any thermal protection need. I have not personally used it yet but the package and label information is clear enough. Very easy to store for emergencies. Once you open it you will have to figure out what you are going to do about refolding and what to use to repack and save. DON'T just buy one because the shipping cost...

It's essentially the same thing, but that's not the point. The point is many sellers are substituting one brand for another on this product (just look at the reviews for the various Quake Kare emergency blanket items on Amazon).

I'm probably not going to bother for a refund/exchange on such a low-cost item which is why they're getting away with it.

DON'T just buy one because the shipping cost for 5 is probably the same as it is for one. They're cheap. Get more than one if you think you will want it for another outing or extras for other uses. If you live where it gets COLD then this should be packed in your cars' glove compartments. Use under a blanket for greater efficiency but not required.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Product, February 27, 2011

This is really an awesome product.

I could not believe how small it folds up, and it does everything that it is advertised to do.

I'm thinking about ordering a few more incase I go camping with friends who may not have one should an emergency occur.

Bottom line here....Buy a few, not just one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure what its true mission is, December 15, 2011

I bought a three-pack of emergency thermal blankets, and have one in my car and one in my wife's car. Last time I went canoe camping in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, it was a cold week, and my feet were cold in my sleeping bag. After one uncomfortable night, I tried lining the foot of my sleeping bag with one of the thermal blankets. It made a lot of noise every time I moved, but my feet were still cold. Aside from its unimpressive showing in that role, it is worth noting that these blankets come in plastic ziplock bags that are EXACTLY the size they need to be to hold a perfectly-folded blanket. In other words, once you take it out, it's NEVER going back in the bag it came from!
If there is a real emergency, where someone is injured and needs to be covered up to prevent shock, maybe these blankets are just the thing, but I have no experience in that area. But I can say they won't keep your feet warm for sleeping in a tent.

We wrap our coolers in these and the ice/dry ice lasts. We usually come home with our original bag of ice after 6 or 7 days.

4.0 out of 5 stars 101 Uses, November 15, 2011

This review is from: Emergency Thermal Blanket (Misc.)
Advertised as a Thin Emergency Thermal Blanket but got to be 101 uses for It.
What Is this made of? It appears to be super thin Aluminium coated with plastic, It will conduct high voltage but Not low voltage Electricity, It will burn & melt but Not as fast as plastic so keep It away from fire. It Is so thin that You can see through It, You can make the Oklahoma highway patrol angry and use this as a temporary window cover It will protect Your left side from sunburn when driving Its like dark tint sunglasses. Using It as a blanket Aluminium reflects heat back but this blanket Is too thin to be Insulation from the freezing cold but what You can do Is get 2 of them and duct tape them together spacing It so that there Is an Air pocket between the 2 sheets. You might use It to cover lumber or lawnmowers and stuff but I do Not know how It last In Oklahoma weather where even PVC tarps do Not last very long. How tear resistant Is It? Its more tear resistant than Aluminum foil but Not plastic sheets If It starts to tear put some duct tape on It. It come In a small package that You can put In Your pocket but when You take It out of the package You can Not get It back In. For sure do Not buy this and thinking It will save Your life In the freezing cold during an Emergency, You should buy one and test It first before You get Into a emergency situation.

From the pic I thought it was one of those mini polar blankets, when its actually a silver paper blanket.
Nevertheless, seller was very good on me returning the item and refun.

When I read "blanket"... for some reason, I thought of a blanket like material. No, it's not a blanket. It's a very thin, paper like, aluminum crackling sheet of something silver and shiny.
Lol.
The wording of "blanket" is deceiving. So, if you read it and imagine a product you can slip between your blankets on those extra cold nights... forget it! It's noisy and it's not so blanket like.
