I normally don't write reviews but this this affected me the entire weekend it really lit a match under my butt:

the setup seemed easy with the wizard guiding through the setup.
First off the port forwarding is a big issue, not very clear cut like the other routers. None of my applications can be successfully connected via port forwarding .

Biggest problems:
When you make your changes and you hit apply, it reboots the router but the router got stuck every time. I have to run down to the basement to physically disconnect the router to get back online.

Pros: strong wifi signal, 5ghz very fast.

Getting ready to return to Amazon.

It sends a strong signal, looks stylish and set up was really easy even for Mac. I do not have the fastest internet provider so I can not test the super speeds but the signal strength was well worth the purchase.

After getting one of Comcast's new gateway/router and it catching fire, I decided to hunt for a good router. I didn't want to spend to much money on it, but I knew I needed a smart router, since the dumb one in Comcast's was garbage. Upon taking the Edimax out of its box I noticed that it feels rather cheap. One of the 2 antenna ports was loose and the antenna would constantly fall over. I had to remove the antenna, line up the little tabs of the antenna holder, so the antenna looks into place, then tighten the nut that goes on top. Comcast's unit had amazing wifi. With the old router 2 sections of the house had to have repeaters to get them signal. With Comcast's new wifi I had full coverage and was able to retire the repeaters. So I was skeptical whether the Edimax would perform, and it did it beautify. The 2.4GHZ seems to connect most of my devices and all at a decent speed. The 5.0GHZ so far only works with my Galaxy Nexus and even though I notice the speed, I also notice the constant glitches, and the range seems to be shorter.

Where the unit really shines is on its gigabit ports. With there being so much more home media/music/movies moving through my network, I noticed 100mb was doing it anymore. Files would be to big and cause read buffering, or stopped all together. With a gigabit network, movies, etc are super fast. This network inspired me so much that I decided to change out the security camera's router and switch at my job, for a gigabit router and switch, now all the pausing and frame drops that plagued the system are gone.
