5.0 out of 5 stars If you like the older style Honky Tonk try this one.
BR5-49 brings the classic Honk Tonk style back to country music. This CD has the Fun Jumpy songs of the classic Honky Tonk artists. It will take you on a mental trip to the the Honky Tonks of the past.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Hillbilly" and proud of it
BR5-49's music takes its inspiration from a time when country music was played by folks who grew up in places with names like Butchers Holler. Covers of Webb Pierce,Moon Mullican, and Ray Price take their place alongside band originals and like-minded revivalist Gram Parsons ("Hickory Wind").

The sound is pre-'countrypolitan'...straight out of the honky...

4.0 out of 5 stars A great return to country roots., April 19, 1999

BR5-49 is classic country. I don't even LIKE country, but I adore these guys. They present a fresh, honest approach on this, their first album, with songs penned by the band members, as well as several classic cuts from the country archives. In my opinion, anyone can enjoy this album. I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Throw away Shania and all of the other want-a-be's, April 15, 1999
This review is from: BR5-49 (Audio CD)
Welcome BR549!!! I was fortunate to see a show of theirs in Albany, Oregon. They are great. MUCH, MUCH better than all of the "so called" country today. I wish that more radio stations would play BR549's music. I am sick of hearing Shania (Pop music, not country) every other song on the radio. BR549 makes me want to get up and dance. I will never get sick of them. I think the best concert to see would be BR549 and Chris LeDoux. That's REAL country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Solid Honky-Tonk, March 8, 1999

A good, strong sophomore effort from this group, better than 90% of the trash out of Nashville these days. By the way, I know that reviewer Mark Cooper (see above) doesn't have a clue--BR-549 isn't reminiscent of an old bomber--it's Junior Samples phone number for his used car lot (remember Hee-Haw?).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent example of toe tapping country rockabilly, June 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: BR5-49 (Audio CD)
This CD contains mostly upbeat toe tappin' music that is a joy to listen to over and over. The several remake songs are every bit as good if not better than the originals. Usually I do not like remakes as well as the original version but all of these are an exception. The ballad songs are sung with great feeling. The songs are country and not pop which is refreshing these days when so much so called 'country' music is not country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Br5-49 is the greatest new country band in a long time..., October 1, 2000

Br5-49 is the greatest new country band I've heard in a long time. Vocals are great, classic guitar licks are fantastic and they have a rhythm section that is really tight. All three albums are great and the musicianship is unbelievable. I prefer the Backyard Beat Show as my personal favorite. I really don't feel that the review from amazon.com is fair. This great band proves it self with one listen of their songs. Please don't take my advice, listen for yourself. You will be convinced.

What great refreshing music. I'm a country fan from way-back and I think they are wonderful! Hope to see them live in Nashville in November.

Just got this disk yesterday, I like this one a lot better than Backyard Beat Show. If you like REAL honky-tonk music, give this a listen and you'll be dancing and hollerin' like a madman in no time a'tall!

This is their 2nd CD and has some really great tunes. I love the way they mix country, blues, and comedy with their songs. It includes the hit "Cherokee Boogie".
