5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! Fits the need...
I have two teenagers who wear braces and play contact sports - wrestling and martial arts. Finding this mouthguard was like finding a treasure. This product not only protects the teeth and jaw, the construction of upper AND lower guards protect the soft tissue of the gums and inner lips from being cut by the braces. This lower lip protection was exactly what I've been...

3.0 out of 5 stars good product but a bit tough to fit. 3 1/2 stars
This is a mouth guard that is heat fit by boiling. The guard is large and takes some getting used to..and I don't mean the usual drool or saliva issues thats normal, I mean its feel in you mouth is large and will press you gumswhere the edge rolls in..(see the picture). that said once your used to the feel it does a good job and absorbs blows well My bite felt less...

This lower lip protection was exactly what I've been looking for because, as anyone involved in sports knows, the mouth, lips and gums can bleed quite a bit - and braces increase that chance during contact sports. The air vent is another great feature that allows them to breath easily during exertion. The boys say they are very comfortable to wear. I will be ordering extra LoPro Plus mouthguards.

This is a mouth guard that is heat fit by boiling. The guard is large and takes some getting used to..and I don't mean the usual drool or saliva issues thats normal, I mean its feel in you mouth is large and will press you gumswhere the edge rolls in..(see the picture). that said once your used to the feel it does a good job and absorbs blows well My bite felt less rattled by hard hits and continued use has allowed the piece to feel better in my mouth. The unit is fit by boiling to soften and then biting down to mold to you mouth features. This took some effort and thankfully it can be refit by simply reheating it if your bite feels wrong. A good product but the boiling is touchy to get right so follow the instuctions to the letter , take your time, and bite down hard when fitting.

So concluding one star lost for the fitting of the round edges...my gums hated this, and 1/2 star for the touchy boil fitting...but I would by again and I would recommend as a mouth guard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guard, great price, great service, January 7, 2009
The title pretty much says it all. The fit and feel, once you fit it to yourself, is excellent. The breathing holes as I like to call them, let you breath easy in rough times. Jaw support is great. It actually brings the lower jaw forward so that when you get hit, your lower jaw won't smake your upper, and that little nerve that puts you down for the count. Very durable and should last you a good while.

At just around $14, it's an excellent price for something that makes so much difference in your game weather it be full contact or not. Excellent protection so you don't mess up your grill any more than it already is.

Service from Piranha Gear was also great. I orderd this product, along with their Pro Fight Gloves, item number B001M0EFTO if you're interested, on Christmas day, and I think the lot got here (Belgium) 5 or 6 days later, which is awesome. There was even a hand written note in the box along with the merchandise, which was a great touch.

If you're in the market for a new guard, or any new gear, I would definatly recommend Piranha Gear.

4.0 out of 5 stars BRUXISM USE = EXCELLENT!, September 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been grinding my teeth my whole life (30 years) and on the advice of a dentist am now using nighttime dental guards. I have chewed through 2 expensive Splintex Dura Guard mouth pieces. So, I discovered Brain-Pad LoPro+ on Amazon, and saw that someone else, too, was planning on using it for nighttime bruxism. I have a small mouth and ordered the junior. I'm 5'8", medium-sized bone structure (size 10 shoes) female caucasian. For my use, the junior works fine. It does NOT cover my molars. However, if I needed it for athletic reasons I'd re-order a size in medium. I'd rather cut it to size than have to re-order yet again! I used the Brain Pad for the first time last night and it was better for me than the Splintex dental guard ever was. Whodathunkit?

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent product, February 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I grind my teeth, and have chewed through mouth guards I got from the dentist. This product not only fits great, but I don't see me chewing through it for a while. With the breathing holes, I don't snore anymore either. I found it easy to fit (boil process has never bothered me)and trim, did it in no time at all. It feels good, the low profile design it's to bulky (I have tried many others that just took over your mouth) while wearing it, and Piranha Gear has great customer service. I would recommend this product to anyone with grinding problems, and I can see how this would absorb shock from a hit when playing sports. Really glad I found it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tough to fit, Tough to get used to., October 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fitting takes multiple tries, its hard to get the top part of the mold to fit to the teeth, despite all the warnings about overheating the product, its very difficult to mold the front part without dipping it into the water for an extended period of time. I suppose every product takes some getting used to, but i mostly use it for BJJ and i kept on drooling and had trouble breathing only through the front of the mouthpiece, and I would shoot spittle through the front when i was breathing hard.

Overall the product is of great quality, its just that realistically its hard to have a double mouthguard that makes it easy to breathe out the front.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mouthguard that is Worth the Price, August 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When it comes to protective equipment for football, it is stupid to save a couple of bucks by buying an inferior mouthguard. This Brain-Pad guard isn't cheap, but it is form fitted to the player's mouth and can be trimmed for smaller individuals. It is made of a durable, yet comfortable elastomer that will absord enough energy to reduce the chances of a concussion. The breathing channels are wide and effective. In addition, the guard itself is not bulky and doesn't trigger the gag reflex. Finally, you can use the thing with or without a strap and it comes with a carrying case (although my son leaves his strapped to his helmet), and an extra strap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Smiling - Recommended, May 17, 2010
The Brain Pad LoPro Mouth Guard is a easy to fit and comfortable once sized correctly. We bought 3 of these since my teens and I have taken up TaeKwonDo and do contact sparring.

The fitting process is a little tricky since we had to cut two of them down to fit in my kid's mouths, but it was well documented in the instructions. Next came boiling the guards and fitting the in our mouths while they were still warm. This was good for my son and I, but my daughter has very sensitive teeth and this caused her some discomfort.

Once in, these allow a lot of air flow which is great when sparring!

Recommended!

I bought this product because i am deployed to afghanistan and a few other soldiers and i started boxing and training in different things. This mouth guard lets you breath easily and fits perfectly in your mouth. The air up here in the mountains is thin and with this mouth guard u get more of a cardio workout when you have it in. It is a real good product and i am recommending others to buy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars too bulky,, to awkward, December 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i figured I'd buy this mouth guard because i spar with friends and planned on getting into boxing again.. read the reviews.. did some research.. this mouth guard seemed legit and quality. it shipped fairly quick so that was a plus.. but it was to bulky in my mouth and the directions on trimming it were a bit vague so i didnt mess with cutting it because it stated that it only needed cutting if your teeth were not in the channel. so i just followed boiling instructions(done this a few times in the past) than molded it to my mouth.. seemed like a better fit..but then i realized the sides were pushing into my cheeks.. re-boiled.. no more bulging sides but didnt seem like it was fitting correctly and the bottoms dug into my gums. don't think i can use this mouth guard :/ I'm dissapointed, spent over $15 and all the mouth guard did was make my jaw sore from clenching on it.
